I know it’s only a first round game but man did Cliff have a big 1st half against RMU. Hes blocking shot, rebounding, and cleaning up dunks. It’s truly a mismanaged situation not keeping Cliff his last year at RU. Still annoyed at the disaster of this season not making the NCAA tournament with two 5 stars
Bama starts 3 “Graduate” players, a sophomore and a freshman. Experience matters.
They are also using him correctly. As discussed on here for 4 years, Cliff is not a back to the basket player. He is a lob dunk, get a few blocks and grab rebounds player.

Sigh ... when will people learn - it was NOT a "mismanaged situation", unless you say NOT HAVING ENOUGH NIL MONEY is mismanagement. Omoruyi got at least $1.3 million from Alabama, and it has been reported he turned DOWN $1.8 million or more from at least one other school - maybe UNC. RU simply did not HAVE $1.3 million to pay Omoruyi.
The mismanaged situation was not giving a little more to Malique Ewin, who ended up at Florida St - 6'10" post player, who ended up averaging 14 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1.7 ***/g and 0.8 blocks per game. According to Richie, RU had a firm offer, made - and preliminarily accepted - his "people" asked for more, and RU refused to go up, for supposed fear of creating a bidding war. Ugh ... AND was only a Sophomore last season - so he would have had 3 years of eligibility (though whether he stays anywhere for 3 years remains to be seen).
Also - mis-evaluating Derkack especially ... maybe Acuff (though his injury certainly set him back a LOT - he was very possibly being counted on the be RU's 6th man, the Andre Hyatt replacement, offense off the bench. PLUS ... missing on the true 3 and D player they were seeking at the WF/G position )Acuff and Derkack are not 3 and D guys - Derkack has no 3 and Acuff has no D) - resulting in settling for a late add in Hayes. Martini was also a miss - though if he had played the 1st half of the season the way he had the last 6-7 games he might have been fine in his role.
That said, Omoruyi had a great 1st half against Robert Morris (15 points I think on 7-7 FG - 4-5 dunks, several blocked shots, etc.) ... kind of what he did for RU against low major teams without a post player who can match up.
For $1.2MM he better dominate RoMO. If they don't make the Final Four no Alabama fan would say they got their money's worth.
Reading Fonseca’s article a real Journalist and reading the other big article that talked about NIL and what Pike did to try to get money tells me there was no money Ewin. Pike was desperate so desperate that he worked the crowd at a liquor store and a top golf tournament get NIL and failed. Ewin probably asked for more and we had none to give to him. I believe the two real journalists who cover the team anything else especially NIL related is hearsay BS.

They tried what did our alums and fans do? They heard the coach begging for money working the crowd at a top golf and a liquor store and telling a room full of Rutgers die hards at a court club meeting to no avail. Rutgers fans give opinions bash players and that’s it.

If you read newspaper stories from real journalists who cover the team you would know that Steve tried to find money for Cliff but Pike was trying to get money from the cheapest fan base in the universe. Alabama wants to win we want to talk about winning.
Many here made it seem like he did nothing. Now when we hear that it was not true now we move the goalposts further and say what he did was not enough. We don’t know exactly what he did. What we know now is that he tried we surely didn’t get that information from the writers of this site and the other.

Stop. Fonseca's article was just a recap of everything we already knew. Nothing new or interesting. Speaking about three appearances in three years isn't exactly in depth reporting on how much effort Pike did or did not put into fundraising for his program. You or I could have written that.
Now? We knew these things when they happened. One of them was in 2022 I think. You are right, none of us really have any idea how much effort he did or did make. We only can tell it hasn't been very successful and needs to be better moving forward.

We did not get that information from this site or the other site. Here we get no real information on NIL just rumor and speculation but no real information besides we don’t have the money. Some said that we had the money to match and Pike players hard ball. That info was given hear and many used it as the only proof that we were flush with cash. 2 real journalists in two articles tell us that we had little to no money for NIL. If we are going to believe anything that what should be believed.

Rutgers should be looking for senior transfers from NJ who played elsewhere for 3 years. There are a ton of high quality college players from NJ. They need to money to get these players back home.
