Someone just posted it on You Tube.

If you're interested, give it a listen before EMI has a conniption and brings down fire and brimstone and Maxwell's Silver Hammer on You Tube.
I bought the album in some record store in Midtown right after the Mets won the East title in '69.

There have been several articles lately where John Lennon had listed songs that he either hated when being done, or grown to hate over time

A couple from Abbey road

Mean Mr Mustard
Maxwell silver hammer
Octopus garden
Sun King

Sometimes the lyrics, others he thought too nonsensical

The list is quite extensive
He was quite picky

A couple from Abbey road

Mean Mr Mustard
Lucy in the sky with diamonds

Lucy in the sky is from Sgt Peppers not Abbey Road

OT- I have to start downsizing my place in a big way. That will include my records. 33's, 45's, and 78's. Abbey Road is one of them. Anybody know a person or place that buy records? TIA. Record player available as well.

I have Abbey Road. I consider it one of the weaker Beatles albums, full of half-thought--out song fragments. Its shortcomings are not surprising considering it was the last album and that it was made as the group was on the verge of breaking up.

Lennon is right that some of the songs on this and other albums should have been pigeon-holed. (The White Albums especially contains a number of songs like that.) That's not surprising; when you produce as much work as the Beatles did, some of it is going to be not very good.

In general, Lennon did not like sentimental songs; he was a brake on McCartney, who was the opposite. (That's one reason they were such an effective song-writing duo.) I am surprised that Lennon disliked Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. My fellow old people will remember the song was controversial because of the obvious reference in the title to you-know-what.

Yes, as @RUPete says, many great artists are dicks. Many great *anythings* are dicks; there is no guarantee that greatness in achievement or talent goes along with greatness in personality. Maybe, in fact, there's a negative correlation because of the drive that's needed to be great in anything. End of sermon.

I guess I should’ve said “flawed” instead of “dicks.”

Not sure if you're in the "I just want to get something for it" mindset or you want to maximize your value. I'm sure there are local places near you that would buy your entire collection but probably won't give you nearly what they're worth, You can make more selling them individually online but that comes with some hassle of it's own. I buy a lot of records here: https://www.discogs.com/

Attend the next Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market and talk to some of the vendors that sell new & used records? They gotta be buying them from somewhere.

I buy my vinyl from TPRFM vendors, the record store Spin Me Round, and from antique stores. Not an extensive collection, but I do have items I'm always on the lookout for.

Where is Spin me around? The gal that owns it is on Facebook all the time. I wonder if she would come to my house cause I can't carry all the records.

They are in the Palmer Park Mall in Easton, PA. Just up the road from their former location in Phillipsburg NJ. The lady who owns it (and the whole family) are very nice.

Princeton Record Exchange is one. Vintage Vinyl in Fords was another but I think they closed a few years back.

I really enjoyed McCartney closing the SNL 50 concert with some Abbey Road side two songs. That was an unexpected treat.

I can’t go off picking my favorite all-time album sides because I frequently change my mind, but Abbey Road side two is right up there.

Since I mentioned McCartney, I’ll put in another periodic plug to Spotify to add the amazing Concerts for the Peoples of Kampuchea. I don’t know why, but benefit albums do not appear on Spotify and I sold/gave away my record collection decades ago.

I’m any case, the Kampuchea Concerts are readily available on YouTube. The closing numbers of Rockestra led by McCartney are, to me, great. IMP, McCartney is at his peak. Many of the other acts are also great - Robert Plant with Rockpile, The Pretenders, The Clash, The Who, Queen, etc. Great stuff.

Yeah, there's a few straight album sides that are up there including side 2. Boston Side A. Hotel California Side A. Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, Against The Wind.

I sold mine at the Princeton Record Exchange at least 10 yrs ago and given the resurgence of vinyl, probably should have waited. Just checked and they're still open. I forget how many I had but they spanned 50 inches. I was satisfied with the price. Always wondered what I could have separately sold my Thunderclap Newman and Temple City Kazoo Orchestra albums for :)

Dude, I wish I had known you were unloading yours! I've played mine so much that it's worn out to the point where you can't hear the separation in the kazoo solos.

Every tune on that album cracked me up. Same with everybody I played it for.
