1. Why is it a secret?

2. How was it distributed? I read a post here that it wasnt an even distribution. Was this all just an Ace/Dylan thing.

3. Why couldnt Pike sell this in the portal, I thought this was announced that RU would likely get an invite last March?

4. RU is playing next year and hard to turn down money but probably better off playing a really weak non conferene schedule to just get wins

5. If people are expected to pay for NIL shouldnt we have full disclosure on what everyone is making

I have no idea about the answer to this question, but if you had zero info on the distribution before "reading a post here" then you still have zero info. Virtually all of the NIL info posted on this board is at best speculation and, worse, most of it is just straight up made up and then posted as fact. Tons of it also contradicts itself.

Ok fair enough, it should be specified it is from a real source. I thought you just meant like a random poster here.

Well, I agree that it would be nice. In practice it seems no one has been able to make or enforce any rules about this stuff so not sure who would or could make that a rule.

I've thought about the transparency part a lot. We give money, have no idea where it's going. It's like throwing money into the abyss. I'm not talking about a detailed accounting, but something put out yearly. How much money came in, how much went out, to what program

#3 iirc we were rumored to be in it, but the details were a bit shaky/unofficial?

#4 just get rid of @kennesaw and Princeton and I think we're ok. Play teams that won't make it their super bowl

Asking people to donate money and letting them know where the money is going. Pretty reasonable ask, right?

In the case of the Vegas money no. A private entity can distribute money as they see fit. They don't owe the public anything. If I donating a lot of NIL money, I would certainly expect to know where the money went.

Bac try writing an opinion letter to the press demanding infomation. You love writing. But try to make it be generic and not specific to RU.. I know that would difficult since you blame RU for everything but it would be more effective-- most smart people understand we can't be responsible for everything.

Why don't we post this on the Alabama, Texas A&M, Creighton, San Diego State, St Johns message boards and the others that will be going next year again like Oregon. I don't think you will see any meaningful responses because MOST fans understand the cost of doing business.

The larger question is not what players got this or that, the bigger question is what person for football (Schiano) and hoops (Pike) and how they arrive at their decision-making on the pieces.

There's an aggressive and somehow sad state of affairs when fans are now asking to get into the backpockets of a recruit who has market value.

What you should be asking for is what does a legitimate 5* 1 & done player do in terms of generating revenue for that program, what does it do to ticket sales, merchandise and overall image of the school.

What is Ray Rice or Brian Leonard worth to RU 20 years from 2005, when they hit the scenes on the banks....its probably worth the cost of the stadium being expanded and has probably generated Schiano around 50M in total earnings.

I will ask you bac....since you are anti players or think they should get zero........is Greg Schiano worth the 50M or more in contracts.....that probably doesn't include his Tampa Bay contracts....

Who generated more revenue for RU.....Ray Rice and Brian Leonard or Greg Schiano.??

I always assumed that we were banking on getting the 1 Mil to our pool of dollars to distribute and that each players NIL deal was their deal. Meaning, if Derkack was to get $150, JWill $375 and Lathan $200 (all guesses) then that was their upfront negotiated salary and the 1M was just reducing the amount that needed to be donated privately/from collectives in order to make the payroll.

So if RU is 18-12, you're not asking the question??

I think the reasons fans are asking the question is because certain fans don't want the players to receive anything. And I'm asking the question a different way.....why do you want better recruiting?? Do you want the better recruits so they still get no money??

if the player is averaging 10PPG and 5 rebounds at his current Power 4/5 school, what would you pay this player, if he had these numbers at a SEC, Big East school and wanted to be a forward or center at RU??

I just want to know what's the difference between Cliff Omoyuri or Antione Woolfork or Dean Reiber, if Woolfork and Reiber are paid a hypothetical 30K to 40K for this coming season and averaged 3PPG and 2 RPG when they were here at RU.

Once I know what a role player that plays 6 to 12 minutes a game is worth, then I can tell you if you should even have to ask what starters at a Power 5 level should get?? And the answer is it does not matter what the teams win/loss record is......

Greg Schiano probably, though this is a weird question for the basketball board.
It comes down to the program that generates the bulk of the TV revenue and what that looks like.

I'm also asking because it is commonly accepted that a coach should get 7.75M (Schiano bump in salary for 2029), but the players should get zero or nothing???

I just need to start asking if the answer is ZERO, the courts have already agreed that it should not be zero.....so if it not zero, are we saying a NCAA starting QB, or point guard who averages 15PPG with 4 assists and 4 rebounds, should get tuition and room and board, with around 10K and free pizza......???

Once I get your answers on whether the players should get something or zero, is why I am asking the coaching salary question......

I don’t donate enough to demand to know where it does, I don’t demand to know how Netflix, Apple TV and HULU spend my money. It’s the same scale and this is private money.

I hope anyone donating at the top percentile is given an answer or even allowed to ear mark accordingly.

Lastly this all changes once it is state dollars and we pay these guys directly via revenue sharing.
I hope we get to see every players salaries across the nation, would hope this is published as part of ensuring compliance with the 20.5M cap at all P4. Especially public universities where tax dollars are being distributed.

I don’t think anyone is saying they shouldn’t get paid. It’s a legit question though for someone who is donating, no? Who’s getting what? These are professional athletes now

I think the whole premise assumes that we should know what they're getting paid when what they're getting paid has nothing to do with the players market value or perception of what the fans think the market value is.

Just because Mike Repole is the St Johns vitamin water billionaire, doesn't mean much to me, if hes overpaying to take Kadary Richmond from Seton Hall, just to make a statement in the tristate area.....

First of all, he overpaid for a solid guard but not a great player and 2nd, he wanted to make Seton Hall look bad in the process. The guard does not fit at all, how Rick Pitino typically recruits guards.....Richmond is a terrible shooter and a terrible FT shooter.

There's a lot more value (in my opinion) that a billionaire should have captured via the transfer portal than Kadary Richmond and the pieces they assembled. Don't get me wrong, Pitino can make magic happen with any roster, but in the case of RU, if we are not donating at a high level, how do you believe you or any small or modest donor, has the right to know what someone is being paid??

If you contribute at a certain amount, I kinda think it's understood where your money goes, but as a donor of under X- Amount, I don't think it's relevant.

It's only being mentioned because the climate of the whole process is against athletes getting paid. It's why I asked if it should be zero....because if you say it shouldn't be zero, but don't actually place a dollar amount out there, it kinda indicates that you may not really believe the players should be paid at all.

It's like fans don't want to be viewed as old school or have their heads in the sand, but most as recently as a year ago, we're dead-set against players getting paid.....why would I believe they're suddenly OK with it, if they're asking about how much their being paid??

If you have to ask, it means at your core, you don't believe they should be paid....its just OK to admit you and others fans don't believe in the concept (not specifically you or anyone, but there are enough fans across the country that fit a narrative of you have a scholarship and that's all you should get, while a coach gets 4M to 10M per year.....

why is it so controversial for some people to ask questions about this.
Because I don't believe for one second, that you care, I believe there is a narrative that you and many fans around the country are jealous, envious and disgruntled because players have value or more perceived value than you believe they should......and then whatever that number is or isn't, gets posted on message boards for weeks or days after a bad game.....

Do we get to request a refund or pay cut, when a coach does a terrible job in one season?? I think that's more relevant in terms of accountability.....

I don't have any ******* idea what any of these people are worth. It's not a normal market, it's a market where third parties are lobbing in money to buy the feeling of being a winner vicariously.

Does the majority think they should get paid, OR does the majority think they should have the right to earn money. Those are two different things.

I mean I think it's fairly clear there is something out of whack in a market where random college basketball guys are getting more than the average EuroLeague player. I don't really CARE outside of the fact that it might make it impossible for Rutgers to compete but I don't think the current state represents non-distorted fair market prices or is any kind of equilibrium.

100% possible. Could be they didn't want Rutgers, only Ace and Dylan.
We don't know...we can only speculate. The players were required to shill and do promotions in the days before the tourney started
