1. Not much to say here other than this team is an absolute mess. Purdue (Braden Smith specifically) ran circles around us, and looked like an NBA team playing a junior high school team.

2. Smith & Co. ran pick and roll all night and murdered us. I’ve never seen so many beautiful pocket bounce passes in a single game in my life.

3. The season is officially over. There’s no coming back from 8-8 (1-4), especially with how the team has regressed over the course of the year.

4. Hayes, Derkack, and Martini (who DNP for good reasons) are all portal whiffs. Acuff is showing life as he gets back to full health.

5. Matt Painter absolutely SCHOOLED Steve Pikiell tonight, both in roster construction and in running offense.

6. This has to be the most disappointing season I can remember.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a poorly coached team before. Next AD should fire pike if the team doesn’t make the tourney next year. This is an absolute dumpster fire that unfortunately won’t be salvaged this year because we’re looking for an AD.

Over the last four games, the combination of PJ Hayes, Zach Martini, and Jordan Derkack have shot as follows from the field:

OPPONENT, Overall FGs (3-pt. FGs)

Columbia 2-12 (1-8)

Indiana 0-10 (0-7)

Wisconsin 4-8 (1-4)

Purdue 1-10 (0-4)

So that’s 7-40 (2-23) from three of our primary rotation players in the last four games.

You don’t have to look any further for an explanation of why this team stinks. But if you do look further, I don’t think the stats from JWill, JMike, and Ogbole are going to look markedly better.

The supporting cast on this team is ABOMINABLY bad.

Nice game by Grant. He adds value. Criminal investigation has been requested for his lack of minutes prior to last game.

Dylan at 80% tonight? The flu kicks asses.

If Painter coaches RU this year, we are a tourney team.

As a fan of basketball, I really enjoy watching Wisconsin and Purdue play.

We are gonna be in a fight to make the B1G tournament.

From here on out, anyone that talks about what we need to do to make the NCAA tourney needs to be escorted to a mental institution.

No way Dylan was 80%. He stood around half of the game.

Dylan and Ace are like 10-47 (4-18) the last two on top of that. Last few the offense has looked like years past.

That's horrific. But it's not even his worst blunder. The failure to address the center spot is even worse

Opponents are only concerned with Bailey and Harper and their performance is getting worse.Its unwatchable basketball and the coaching staff has no corrective action.

Agree except for the “if Painter coaches” part. Purdue recruits an entirely different type of player: they all pass, shoot well, find open players and make each other better. Basketball Fundamentals.

Pike recruits athletes and length. Our guys have different skills and wouldn’t be capable of the Purdue offense. Fundamentals and team play not a roster construction consideration.

We have always been an iso ‘make a play’ offense because the players don’t have the other abilities.

So no, Painter wouldn’t change the skills our players have.

Did anyone else get the sense Purdue barely had to try? When Painter called the timeout when we cut it to 5, my expectation was they'd step on our throats and run away with it.

I’ll destroy Davis- the last 2 games at home he’s been the primary reason for our slow starts on offense. Killed us going 0-3 and 1 turnover in 4 minutes vs Wisconsin

Tonight again turnovers early, and played 8 straight minutes, in fact, inexplicably he was the last starter taken out, even after being abused by Smith, all while not scoring or having an assist

Mind boggling that the staff thinks he brings any starter minute value. Davis wouldn’t Even be rostered on most big ten teams
