OSU getting throttled the other night makes me even more pessimistic than I was previously.

Inability to finish games haunts Rutgers again, against a team that has experienced warriors and one of the best pure PGs in the conference.

We have played one actual road game and failed miserably against a bad team. OSU got punched in the gut at the buzzer vs. Pitt and then was blown out of the gym vs. Maryland.…not good for us.

OSU spreads it around pretty good — their top 5 guys all average between 8 and 10 shot attempts per game. And 4 of those 5 guys shoot 38% or better from three.

JWill has to stop their PG without fouling out, and help defense will be a key in this game.

If this were at the RAC, I’d pick RU. Our best chance is for Ace and Dylan to go off, and for OSU to miss a lot of treys.

OSU 79
RU 75
Hope I’m wrong

Highly likely the officials will play a big role in the outcome. We need to be attacking and getting to the line. If they mug Dylan and the refs let it go it will be hard for us to compete. This will be a recurring storyline. Similarly on D, we need to attack and force turnovers.

We are now 1/4 through the season and have no handle on what we are as a team.

Have a tough time taking 1 data point of the txam game where we showed a defensive life
yeah its not good, its getting late early to try and build an identity...it MUST come these next 3 games. Certainly Ohio State is NOT a must win for me because the road is a tough place. I want to see this team develop an ability to do something other than try to outscore their opponents. I feel that basically that is what they are doing for better or for worse and I do not think its going to be particularly successful in this league long term. Defending home court vs Penn State is a MUST win. Penn State will likely be ranked next week. An 0-2 Big 10 start would be red flashing warning signals

I know it doesn't mean anything but ESPN says it's 82% likely OSU wins. I'm also concerned that after the beatdown at UMD, OSU is going to be highly motivated to hold serve at home.

That said, RU has to start building a resume. This is a game where a win looks REALLY good. Go get it.

No time for excuses,This is a must win after losing 3 out of last four games. The scoring performance of players other than Bailey,Harper and Williams will determine game outcome assuming the trio will score at least 45 points.

I think it’s funny that so many people think Ohio State will play better because they just got blown out.

If we are down 51-19 or whatever it was to Ohio State on Saturday, how many of those same posters do you think will predict a win against Penn State?

How many of them will predict 0-20 B1G seasons?

Dylan will get downhill at will. The question is, can we defend the perimeter? Need to get OSU in foul trouble early and often.

I was just going to post something similar. If another team gets crushed, it's always oh no we are screwed! If we lose, it's we suck

Some are making it out like it's a guarantee OSU bounces back. Sure, it's possible. Sometimes teams go through multi game rough patches too though. Maybe we are actually playing OSU at just the right time...

Rutgers has a great chance to win this game. Without Bradshaw, OSU has no interior presence. This could be a big game for Harper getting to the bucket going up against smaller 6-2 guards like Thornton and Meechie Johnson. Devin Royal at 6-6 is their best rebounder.

OSU rides and dies with the 3 ball so RU will need to defend the 3 like Maryland and run OSU off the 3PT line. Thornton, who is excellent, is shooting 55% from 3 so far this year!

Winning on the road is never easy but a noon start helps. RU wins 78-72.

This needs to be the game where RU learns and executes how to finish off a game. Did not finish strong against Kennesaw, ND was shaky but got the win, and RU did not finish off the game at crunch time against Bama and A&M. RU needs to show it can finish off a game when it’s winning time, needs to start with this game.

OSU favored by 6.5

I just think our defense and inexperience will continue to be a problem.

I am presuming a typo there ... otherwise, though I never do individual game predictions, I will predict that if Harper, Bailey AND Williams combine for only 45 points RU will lose.

FYI, in RU's 1st 8 games, Harper and Bailey are averaging 42.6 ppg , just the 2 of them.
