I actually have an idea - we could create a trophy for this game and call it the Civil Conflct trophy.
Bad idea. Nothing to be gained by beating UConn. And it would be disastrous to lose to UConn.
to go from having Citrus Bowl officials in attendance to playing Uconn would be the epitome of disappointment
One of Schiano's signature skills is that he's good at bowl games.
He often attributed it to not having to recruit that time of year (which was GS 1.0 era)
Not in a bowl game. Schiano for all his flaws is an ace in bowl games (7-2 lifetime in bowl games).

We could do a charter fishing trip leaving from Fort Lauderdale. Do a quick visit to Key West, which is one of my favorite places. Visit Mangoes on South Beach. Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood. The possibilities are endless.

Schiano ain't losing to freaking UConn with 3 weeks to prepare. He only needed 2 weeks to beat a good Minnesota team and VT on the road. Schiano wins in bowl games, plain and simple.
We take the bowl games seriously. Other programs, like Miami last year, may not be as serious about winning the bowl game. They want to win it, but it’s not a big deal if they don’t. Bowl games are mostly for alumni to party, and are a reward for a good season.
No way we lose to UConn.
Mangoes is my favorite, jtung. Last time I was there, there was a dancer that was Schiano’s doppelgänger.
Would also try to visit the Rusty Pelican on the Richenbacker Causeway.
Not for everyone, but I love it. For me, Mangoes is Miami. I would also visit La Carreta in Miami.
All I could think when I saw this was Del Boca Vista. The Morty Seinfeld Bowl.

UConn winning the way Illinois did would be an even more fitting end to the season.
Don’t be so sure . With all the opt outs by players and our putrid Secondary UCONN could easily beat us.
And if we lose to MSU on Saturday that mean we lost 6 out of our last 8 games in the regular season. We’re lucky any Bowl would want us.
The Citrus Bowl rep stopped by our tailgate and was really feeling Rutgers. So disappointing.
Dont be so self loathing. We lost 4 in a row to end last year and beat Miami in the Pinstripe. And our players don't strike me as the types to opt out. UConn lost 50-7 to a team we literally beat a week ago.

A lot had to do with Miami missing numerous starters who opted out. Other than Melton everyone who was healthy played for us. Hope that is the case this year. Minnesota beat an Illinois team handily on the road. We beat Minnesota a week later. Shouldn’t we have beaten Illini? The UCONN- Maryland game is meaningless. And we are both different teams right now.
Hooray for the extra practices, Rats Mouth Bowl or another, its great to get another game.
