Was wondering if I should start a carousel thread but since no P4 coaches fired yet, wasn't sure. Glad you did, I'll just dump any coaching news I come across in this thread.

Frankly, the 2 hottest P4 seats (Napier/Aranda) coming into the season are cooled for this year at least. Both are confirmed as coming back.

Can't think of any others. Maybe Brown at WVU?

With all the long term big money contracts we see these days on top of schools being able to pay players, I think it's less likely to see as many HC firings as the past for most given years, at least at the P4 level.

I do think we could see more coordinator changes though as we've seen already in some places.

Have seen fans crabbing about Brown at WVU. Problem with WVU, is they are kind of like shall I say Nebraska? Their glory days are long past. I mentioned Rich Rod in this week's thread, but as you mentioned, he has issues, and this from his Wikpedia page (maybe he could run for office with those favorability ratings?) 😉 :

"An opinion poll in September 2013 by Public Policy Polling found that 47% of West Virginia voters still had an unfavorable opinion of him, with only 11% seeing him favorably."

I think he just fired their OC but guess he's joining him now. Saw a tweet all 4 owls teams are looking for HCs now.

edit: my mistake it was the DC and looks like he's being rehired at least temporarily

Quick draw McGraw! Herman had been shopping himself. Tom was a hot commodity 2015-18, then he fell from grace hard.

Yikes ...

We should have and still can hire Mike Houston. I have not shut up about this for 4 years. Attainable, east coast, turned around now 4 separate programs as a HC, currently making $1.25 million a year…. There’s our coach. I’ve been saying it for years

If you expect ECU to recruit the quality of athlete to compete on the road vs #2 Michigan I have some beachfront property in Kansas for you.

Houston is a phenomenal coach we would be lucky to have. Greg cosches the most boring form of football imaginable and is incapable of putting up points in bunches. It’s honestly laughable that you expected a mid major to be able to compete vs the #2 ranked team in the country.

Turn in your football talking card because you have no knowledge of it.

Since this is the game you wanna hang your hat on, this same Michigan team beat the hell out of us 52-17 last year…

As for our offense, I saw some good things Saturday, I also saw Gavin miss about 8 throws he needs to make if we’re gonna have a shot vs a decent team.

Al, do me a favor. Make sure you keep that same energy with Greg when we graduated our entire team the next 2 years and wind up with 2 wins in 2026. Houston and ECU are having a tough year, they are also replacing the entire team and have been to back to back bowl games do me a favor and pull up Mike and Greg’s combined records at their respective schools. How bout you get back to me there👍

Your boyfriend can’t coach offense Al. He’s rebuilt the defense admirably, he’s done his job and taken the team out of the abyss. Now it’s time to take us to the next level. Greg is not capable of this offensively, we MUST move on. now the pressure’s on to continue the bowl stretch. If we wanna continue it the offense had better get better fast. And I’m sorry to break this to you Al, but freshman ain’t gonna be the ones to do it

Al Golden (would he leave ND, unless he really wants to be HC again), Jeff Nixon (Fran Brown said his coordinators aren't interested in Temple), KC Keeler (8-2 in his 2nd season in the FBS at SHSU and contending for the CUSA title), Brennan Marion (UNLV OC) are some of the names I've seen associated with Temple.

This is from an Athletic article

Some potential names to watch to replace Drayton full-time in the job include Syracuse defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson, Syracuse offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon, Bowling Green head coach Scot Loeffler, Syracuse quarterbacks coach Nunzio Campanile, Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, Kutztown head coach Jim Clements, Lehigh head coach Kevin Cahill and Texas offensive coordinator/former Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood.

It’s paywall but basically saying Charlie Weis Jr is a top candidate for it. Figured he would be cause of his time there with Kiffin. His dad lives close by too. Says it would be a pay cut for him (1.65M salary at Ole Miss) but wouldn’t stop him from taking the job.

After moving on from Mike Bloomgren last month, sources have indicated that Rice would seek proven head coaching experience with an offensive background for its next head coach.

Monday, our John Brice outlined this search quite well noting that KC Keeler had become of keen interest in this one.

On Thursday, Dave Campbell's Texas Football reported that Ohio head coach Tim Albin, Vanderbilt offensive coordinator Tim Beck, and Sam Houston head coach KC Keeler are "serious candidates" for the position. FootballScoop has heard all three as candidates for the position, though other targets have been vetted and additional ones could emerge throughout the search.

He was mediocre to bad an Indiana and his tenure ended with abuse allegations. Saw small portions of Tulsa games, and he looked angry and stressed out.

Here is some idiocy:

In 2015, Indiana finished the regular season with a 6-6 record and showed a much more competitive level of play in the Big Ten. Indiana received an invitation to play in the Pinstripe Bowl, their first bowl game since 2007. After the season ended, Wilson signed a 6-year, $15.3 million contract extension that ran through 2021.

I’d expect the trend to continue until fiscal sanity shows up and buyouts get manageable. I don’t expect as many power conference firings as before where we’d get double digits more often than not.

His offenses were good enough iirc but his defenses were bad.

Shove now, yes. A UNC win this Saturday vs NC State would have complicated things. The Rams Club wanted to avoid that. Go Heels!
2.8M buyout is very manageable.

Tulane still has a shot at the G5 spot in the playoffs, wonder how that might come into play for Sumeall should it happen. Late season conference championship and new year’s bow kept Fritz from taking the GT job a few years ago. He’s at Houston now.

Hmmm.. I wonder if Cignetti at Indiana is getting a lot of coaches fired with ADs hoping to strike gold in the coaching carousel game. Deion Sanders example as well.
A lot of fool's gold to sift through. Cignetti lit it up this year. And Prime turned it around this year. He got a great QB recruit. Will both coaches have sustained success? Time will tell.
