He was very lightly recruited.

Came off the bench last year for Monmouth as a freshman.

He’s a threat from the outside for sure but last night was a career night for him !

He also has a twin brother. I was surprised Monmouth didn’t snag him in the portal last year.

He's had a good start to his 2nd season and still has games against Seton Hall, Princeton and Auburn over the next few weeks. He also dropped 20 against Mich. St. and 25 against NIU. So maybe this is his year is his coming out party. If he continues to put up good numbers he'll be in demand in the portal and maybe out of our reach.

Think there are guys like this at smaller schools all of the country that we are not familiar with; and think we found our shooter in PJ - just he's not going to be allowed to take 17 shots - but like what I see when he does. But heck of a game from Bashir.

Bashir could be to Monmouth this year what Acuff was to EMU last year. A guy that puts up big numbers because he has to carry the team.

Yeah, he's getting a workout w the # of shots he's getting up. Pretty sure he's well below average efficiency overall this year.

Exactly. He is a high volume shooter. Came into last night’s game shooting only 35% from the floor and 24% from three (Derek Simpson-like #s). RU’s lack of defense allowed him to feast from the 3 point line last night shooting well above his average.

He could be basketball’s Dymere Miller.

His season numbers jumped to 38.7% and 37.0% after last night which are in line with his freshman year shooting. Would expect those numbers to maybe improve a little once they get into CAA games. Though I'm not sure I'm wanting to see this guy against my alma mater if he keeps this up...lol.

I don't think it was a lack of defense as much as it was "who is this guy." Again, Bashir is a volume shooter who shot well above his numbers and by time Rutgers reacted Bashir was unconscious. He could fart a three. That's how hot he was last night.

.....or he was just ON ONE last night. Happens with all shooters - they get hot, and people think they found the next diamond in the rough, Steph Curry player. Truth is they were just hot for a game or two, and are very likely where they should be.

Yup - let a shooter hit a couple in a row and gain his confidence, and then all of a sudden you have a potential monster problem on your hand. This is exactly what happened to us yesterday.

That was my opinion of Curry for awhile watching him at Davidson

He's now 36% this year too. Takes too many two pointers at a low %. Shooting only 41% inside the arc on over ten shots a game and only 36% inside the arc last year.
Typical of the best player on a bad team. When we sign him up next year he won't need to do that anymore. He can just drain 3s. :)

Mr Bashir came down to earth tonight.

Monmouth loses to Wichita State by 4 and Bashir scores 15 and shoots 3-9 from 3 point land.
