If he has the health to play at close to his normal level for the final 3 games, I like our chances to go bowling.
Agreed. It might feel strange to some.. the effect that a single defensive player can have.. but our D has always been based on that bend-but-not-break flavor.. where getting that sack or TFL that puts the O in a very difficult situation to make a first down will stop their drive and get us back the ball.. eventually. And a single defensive player playing a singularly great play can make all the difference.

Prime candidate to opt out of a bowl
Possibly. But playing now and possibly in bowl may provide more film to get back up the draft charts showing he is healthy enough to play and no long term effects of injuries.

His playing gives us a better chance to win.
Don’t college players get paid to play?
It would be a stinko bowl. Anyone that gives a crap about the guy or his NFL chances can get behind an opt out.
Unless he has a contract

I have said it before but I am so glad our son played before all of this opting out. The bowl experience was such a great thing for players, families and fans.
But to be honest- if he was going through it now- The various College All Star games are so much more important than a bowl game for a guy looking to make the NFL. We would have had to seriously consider if playing a bowl would be worth it.

The bowls are for your teammates and your school/fans . The all star games are all about individual advancement. Kids today have to make that decision. As a player you could not keep me away from a bowl game . Just the way I rolled .

He has the measurables and plenty of film.
Lots of folks have measureables and film but its the "is the injury having an impact" for the purposes of the draft in terms of whether you are Day 1, Day 2, or Day 3 of draft. He was high likelihood of Day 2 of the draft last year. All things being equal you would assume there this year but the injury puts that into question so to put aside doubts on that would be helpful with some GMs.

he has 3 more games not including the bowl and most likely a all star invite- the least important thing to the NFL scouts is the bowl game- he has 3 games to get himself up to 90%.
