He wouldn’t come here right after schiano anyway.

We won’t do better than Schiano and we have history to back it up .

We can get his cousin Suburban Meyer for half that.

Both as an OL coach. And he is very good at that job. The issue is he is not that good a HC.
Coaches, like players, grow and developed…saban comes to mind…stints at MSU and the NFL…he may absolutely love just being an OC and he gets paid exceptionally well as the OC of the #1 team…it’s a good gig

I'd take him in a heartbeat
Unfortunately, he wouldn't come here and we wouldn't take him if he would

Meyer is done with coaching - not that hard to figure out and if he would ever return to HC, it will be #1 OSU (after they fie Day for losing a couple of games) or #2 Notre Dame

Myers’s was quoted as saying you can never win a championship at Rutgers so doubt he would ever entertain it.

He's pretty good on TV.. watch him detail a play diagram/video compared to Saban doing it on the other network. Saban needs Kirk Herbstriet prompting him to explain things. Saban's the better coach.. probably, but Meyer's the better TV personality even as Saban is more likable.

I don't get you guys who see one bad game and its get rid of Schiano. And hiring Urban Myer? What cool aid are you drinking? First we can't afford him (cause all you guys don't donate enough) and one of his guys already showed he can't recruit here. Over the years the only guy who got us anywhere is Schiano. He understands the obstacles here. From Rutgers, to politicians, to the newspapers, to the pathetic fan base, he knows what he's up against, other coaches who tried here don't. This isn't easy, we're way behind (and most fans have no clue how far) but we're competitive.

Any chance we could get Petrino as OC/QB coach here? Steal him from Arkansas? Does Arkansas get Walmart money? Why aren't they dominating the NIL market if they do?
Petrino is a dirtbag, but like Friedgen, he's forgotten more about productive offense and QB play than most of the OCs that RU has hired in the last decade. If Lamar Jackson had come to RU, he'd have been turned into a bad WR or CB instead of a Heisman winner and NFL MVP.

Obviously hiring UM is a fantasy, but unfortunately we know what we have in Greg. His ceiling is probably 8-9 wins in this league. He will never attract a top QB/WR's with his conservative approach. Even Saban said Greg is a good coach but will never win big in this era with the type of offense he wants. It sucks for us because he is the only one to ever do well here, but we all know he can't get us to the next level.

Request reminds me of years gone by when posts saying hire Bill Parcells showed up regularly on this board
My choice would be :Woody Hayes
with the way RU's passing game looks, Woody's 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense would fit right in

The irony is that Urban would never take the Rutgers job because we don’t have enough support, and he’s even hinted as much. Lack of support is also why he took the Florida job over the Notre Dame job. If he was seriously looking, he’d only take jobs that have enough FatCats and the infrastructure to win big. So Rutgers would be out. To land Urban, we need a fieldhouse and significant NIL support.

These programs are the types of programs he would consider:
Florida, Miami, Ohio State, Penn State, LSU, Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, USC,

He’s made amazing money over his career, has a sweet, easy gig with FS…he has nothing to prove…unless his drive to win is bigger than most, life is easy and plush at the moment without the grind of NIL, recruiting, dealing with unreasonable alumni and so on.

Good for him!!
