Play calling bad, execution even worse.

Nebraska was the first team in a while not packing the box.

It worked for them against the pass, because they had extra guys in coverage and their DL manhandled our OL without help.

It didn’t work for them against the run and we were having a lot of success.

How our OC saw that and decided the best thing to do was abandon the run is inexplicable.

Well they are bringing from depth and number zero is playing to a level that we literally can't block him.

Look. 40mph winds and a solid d-line. Rutgers is forced to run and they’re not getting any holes. It’s a tough one at one of the toughest places to play.

It’s the same thing every year no matter who the coach, OC, or QB is. Once we get to legit competition the passing offense regresses to the bottom 10 of all FBS. Happens every year.

After 10 years of this its a big time culture thing, not something a hire can cure.

RU is not losing to teams they are better than, but just can’t seem to beat the upper tier teams. VA Tech and WASH were good wins. I see Nebraska and Wisc at the same level. Hopefully they get it done at home.

Even Vandy (today vs BAMA) and Purdue (vs OSU) get it done once in a blue moon.

Someday in my lifetime … still have 10-15 good years left .. to see a win vs PSU … OSU … MICH. Or USC. Or Oregon.

I'm mystified how RU got away from a run game that was showing sparks.
RU red zone can be expected to fail more often than not.
Washington was a better team that self- destructed.
RU became Minnesota East today.
3rd and goal vs va tech they run the expected short drag to Fletcher. Stopped
3rd and goal today same play same result.
First and goal do they think to pull the ball and QB end run? Nope.. totally predictable play calls.

I forget, which side of our north entrance is Schiano’s 50 ft statue going ?

8 times in Nebraska territory, and just 7 points. The offense was bad, but Nebraska's defense is good.

I'm sorry but Nebraska isn't that good. Three big issues in this game.

1) play calling beyond predictable
2) Athan is having a bad day
3) PHYSICALLY THEY ARE MANHANDLING US
They will win one more game: UCLA …. And maybe Indiana perhaps.
Nebraska will sneak into a Bowl game after 7 years

Fake field goal was a bad call.
We need to come up with better plays when we are 1st and goal line. We throw desperation passes or run into a stone wall.
The 2 minute drill was very poor. Tried to throw difficult passes instead of going for 1st downs.
Liked the way the D regrouped in 2nd half.

There are 16 other coaches in the conference Shelby would trade Schiano for, and he doesn’t say 17 because he’s not sure about the UCLA coach yet. But Shelby had no issue with the fake FG because Patel hasn’t been reliable and it would have been a long try.

AK's stats were ugly but he wasn't why we lost.

Gross play calling by KC.
Did I mention the terrible play calling?
Missed fg.
Black has a sure TD hit his shoulder pads???
Refs miss KM getting into the endzone.

Stats don't lie, here's our rank for average passing YPG going back to 2016. It's remarkably consistent.

2024: 98
2023: 127
2022: 124
2021: 114
2020: 99
2019: 121
2018: 124
2017: 125
2016: 122
Wow. That's pretty scary.
