For the first time. RU next?! If we beat Nebraska I can see it happening for the Wisconsin game. One can dream.
Iowa would have to win too to have any chance at all…

OSU vs Oregon will otherwise be a virtual lock to get it in my opinion.

That sounds right, that is the marquee game. Let's just keep winning and they will come to the birthplace.

What did they say ?
It's a secret amongst legends who watched. 😉

A lot. Seemed to be leaning Rutgers. Saban effusively praises Schiano. Showed locker room talk by Greg.

Close your mind to something like Joey Bags, and you miss out.

I think the Cal Twitter sphere helped get them on CGD and they’re a decent 3-1.

There have been some creative/funny things I’ve seen retweeted by the media.

Woke vs Coke memes (as opposed to Catholics vs Convicts)

Spoof of the HOTTOGO song for their player Ott, Calgorithm etc..

Posted some of this stuff in the games thread last week and this week.

Great comments by Saban but he said that is how football used to be played (not in a good way).
Other Saban comments: "great back," make "lots of problems on special teams, blocked kicks, returned kicks"

Not sure what Saban was thinking with returned kicks comment because Rutgers is the only team in the history of the sport to ban its players from returning kicks.

Anyway, nice to see Nick staying involved in the game by appearing on College GameDay.

McAfee is a little too bombastic for my style still he has some smart comments in his chiller moments.

Surprisingly big turnout in Berkeley.

Would Rutgers match the Berkeley GameDay turnout? A question is should Rutgers as GameDay host do the show in Piscataway Glen or College Ave Yard.

You have to do it outside the stadium

Disagree

Not same segment, but Saban clearly says old school football will win

When you add that to what Saban said earlier, when they did a nice piece about 9:20AM on Rutgers at Nebraska, Saban was clearly complimentary and said the Schiano-coached team vs. Rhule-coached team will be a 60-minute FIGHT. Very complimentary.. and the game is on FS1.

Yeah I'm warming up to the idea of Cal/Stanford in the B1G once the next media deal is up for renewal circa 2030. I'd love to see what the B1G brass would come up with for the Maps Commercial for Cal/Stanford (Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Chinatown in San Francisco, etc).

Really? Didn't know that was a GameDay rule.

Won't be easy to get a big crowd in the Glen at 9am. Large majority of Rutgers students live more than a 30 minute trip from the Glen unless they own cars and a Rutgers football parking passes, and most students won't pay for football parking passes.

Yard is a more convenient location for GameDay attendance.

I think it'll be the move...that or UNC/UVA. Would be nearly every prestigious major public and media market.

You think New Brunswick is more than 30 minutes away from the Glen?
I think you also underestimate the Rutgers students and how well they would turn out if game day actually came to Rutgers. Look at how well they turned out on Friday night They were standing on top of each other. And I'm pretty sure that Rutgers would find some way to bus people in from New Brunswick to get the students there. I think there would be an excellent turnout

I believe that turnout was at 6AM local time.

The students would pack the Glen. Win and get Gameday!

The Glen is more than 30 minutes from New Brunswick unless one sleeps under the Landing Lane bridge. Google Maps shows 38 minutes from College Ave student center to Glen.

You are right I could underestimate how the students turn out to Glen. When I was student in late 90s, I couldn't drag classmates to games; they complained 12 noon starts were too early. Cal turned out this morning - they arrived 3 hours earlier then Rutgers students would need due to time zone - informs you could be right. Another question is would NJ cops shut down an early morning turn out.

Don't trust Rutgers running busses to football games. Anyway, we are discussing GameDay on campus and that is good.

I’m really happy for Cal fans. I’ve lived in Nor Cal for a long time. It seems that ever since the PAC-12 network, Cal has been in relative obscurity. Prior to the network, most Cal games (football and basketball) were on TV. Over the years, I’ve had DirecTV. Xfinity and YTTV. NONE carried the PAC-12 network.

So this has been great to see Cal finally get back in the spotlight.

You know it!
You tell the story.
You tell the whole damned world this is Bear Territory!
