Who knew: Took up acting because he stuttered. Turned himself into a world treasure with some iconic roles and an unforgettable voice.

Maya Angelou went mute for 5 years after wishing aloud for an adult to die when she was 7 yrs old (the adult died right after and Angelou thought she caused death). Childhood speech problems seem to be behind some of the best voices.

93's a good run and full life. I was introduced to the voice in Star Wars and the first time I ever watch one of the movies he was in he was Thulsa Doom, that movie was great.

If you have little kids, watch “The Lion King.”

If your kids are a little older, “The Sandlot.”

You can add “Star Wars” too if those older ones haven’t been exposed to it yet.

We can watch:

“Field of Dreams”
“Coming to America”
“Dr. Strangelove”

Or any of the Tom Clancy movie adaptations where he plays Admiral Greer.

I might watch some CNN tonight just to hear his voice.

Thank you, Mr. Jones. God Bless and good luck.

Field of Dreams
Star Wars
The Lion King
Coming to America
The Sandlot
Dr Strangelove

But for me, Field of Dreams will always be vintage James Earl Jones. I was a 10 year old kid who thought the world revolved around baseball when that came out. To this day, if I see that movie is on, I almost always stop and watch it.

Guy is a legend. RIP.

Somewhere I heard him talk about being the most recognized voice in America because during the Gulf War in the 90s, his voice said "This is CNN" and it was on in every home and doctors office etc in America.

Like so many other big names, he also did a guest appearance (as himself) on The Big Bang Theory.

People forget he was a tremendous Shakespearean actor.
As for films, I wonder if JEJ and Morgan Freeman ever played together.
They could have been a hell of a movie
