Surprised this hasn't been a thread started. With a cupcake today for Man U. Tomorrow 6 matches. Who you got?

Not a fan of Arsenal but I think it’s their year. Is City facing point deduction or relegation? 115 allegations to deal with.

1 and 2 in any order you like:
1. Arsenal
2. Man City

Then...
3. Man Utd (they will look terrible from time to time, but there's enough talent here particularly with the emergence of Mainoo for me to slot them 3rd, albeit far behind the top 2).
4. Newcastle (feels like a repeat from a few years ago, no European football is a good thing. Isak only real challenger to Haaland for top scorer IMO, although Solanke at Spurs is interesting.)

5. Chelsea (by the end of year nobody will want to play them)
6. Spurs (they will be a fun watch as always)
7. Liverpool (no signings, no Klopp, everybody one year older... they'll produce magic with the quality here but I fear this is a team on the downswing).

Who could surprise....
Brighton - Ferguson is a guy who can lead the league in goals once he gets a bit older. EDIT I see now they seem to be lining up a move for a striker - so Ferguson to Man U?
Brentford - we saw how dangerous Toney is in the Euros in limited action. No other mid table club has a guy like him.
Bournemouth - Good coach, just spent a Bournemouth fortune for a striker. Of all the teams here I could see them be that magical "how did they finish top 4" type of team.

What do you think of West Ham? I think they could surprise, also Aston Villa will be good but will be dealing with UCL, are they deep enough to handle the extra fixtures?

Honestly forgot about them but should certainly be top ten I'd guess.

And if you're a top ten club with the amount of talent spread nowadays means you could be top 5 if things break right IMO.

I'm ready for another tumultuous Chelsea season! Think I'm going to hate Maresca ball but if it produces winning results I'll certainly take it.

Well - no Toney in the squad today so thinking he is probably being shipped. Arsenal? He might be the final piece for them, although Havertz might be fine there anyway.

Chelsea vs Man City today at 11:30. So far the matchups have been underwhelming

Agreed. Next week probably worse FWIW. You'll have to wait til Sept 1 for Man U - Liverpool and Tottenham - Newcastle, which is a nice Sunday double. Then there's the break so nothing major until Arsenal - Tottenham the 15th.

Toney’s off the field issues might have turned off some Premier League teams.

What an end to the Everton vs Bournemouth match.

Everton up 2-0, bournemouth scores 3 in 9 minutes, takes a 3-2 lead, two in extra time. At Everton.

Everton may very well have the best (new) stadium in the Championship next year. We'll see if Dyche keeps his job. This loss may be on him with a late substitution, Everton were playing OK until that point.

Pickford made two very good saves late or it could have been worse.

Man U 14th. When was the last time they have been that low in the table? Crazy season all around this year.

Haha I'll own it. Can't win em all. Feel pretty good about Brighton Brentford and Bournemouth surprising though.
It's still early enough regardless so you could end up being more close. Everything else not bad besides Pool.

Liverpool. All my favorite teams are Red.
  • The signings from the last two years (Gravenberch, Gakpo, Dom, Macca) have come into form.
  • Vets (Virg, Salah, Ali, Robbo) are still performing at a high level
  • New vets have reached their prime (TAA, Jota, Diaz, Ibu)
  • Role players are sufficiently filling in when needed, with a special moment here and there (Curtis, Kostas, Endo, Kelleher). Darwin goes either here or in #1.
  • Slot ball suits this club, let's hope they stay injury free. We haven't seen a fun, heavy metal blowout yet like we did with Klopp but that's ok.

  • Whether City has weakened or will get penalized, I'm not really sure, tbh, but I know that they're not going to drop very many points, so Liverpool losing to Forest could end up being a killer. You win this league by getting lucky against the giants and perfect against everyone else. There is very little room for error, but things have aligned nicely with this squad.

Nice to see Liverpool doing well, but even nicer to see City falling to pieces, having lost 4 straight Premier League matches in a row for the first time since 2007. Liverpool dominated City today in a 2-0 win that could've easily been more and is now 9 up after 13 matches over Chelsea and Arsenal and 11 over City.

Great Boxing Day all around for Liverpool. Seven point clear of second place Chelsea with a game in hand. Love it when my predictions are right.

If the season ended today Nottingham Forest would qualify for the champions league, City finishes in 7th and United is closer to relegation than they are to top 4.

And thats just the league. LFC it at the top of the champions league and still in the EFL and FA Cup
