VT loses at Vandy

Sorry I want them to lose every game this season. Not rooting for them to win their next two sorry.
Neither did 90% of the teams in front of us. With no pre-season games what do you expect. The way rankings work early in the season has more to do with the name on the front of the jersey or the hype created around a few media darlings. Rutgers is not a fan or media favorite, so they have to work twice as hard to earn the respect they deserve.
Both VT lines did not play well. Having watched the game it seemed vandy won the battle in the trenches on both sides ofthe ball. If we win the line play we should win going away. Win time of possession and keep drones of the field and it's a 3-0 start.
Vandy's offense is full of eye candy with the pistol. Tough assignment for VT.
I'll be looking to see if we can get into the backfield on the pass rush with just 4.
Weird game for us last year. 5 3 and outs. 1 4 and out. 1 5 and out. I think we had 12 runs of 3 or less yards before the kneel down possession to end the game. 2 long TD runs (34 and 55). I think AK keeps the chains moving this year. Hoping we don't see 7 punts again.

Texas Tech at home had to go to OT to beat Abilene Christian . Ranked ahead of us.
UNC is ranked ahead of us ? Their offense is bad.
We be beat both easily.
Backup QB did Old Dominion in. But they did rush for 243 yds. which should bold well for our efforts.
I think it's a game we need to build up a decent lead by half time. Va Tech seems to make a habit of starting out slow and coming on late.
I don't want to see us go super conservative first half to "give ourselves a chance to win". Take the game by the throat. Act like the better team.

I was thinking that, and also that Rutgers usually starts slow and plays better in the 2nd half. It should be a good game.
I saw an article that said QB 1 was injured vs East Carolina. The spread makes more sense based on that. Vegas obviously didn’t expect the kid who threw for nearly 200 yards and 58% against South Carolina to be spotted 14 points at home against VTech. Would’ve been a very different game obviously.
Lock of the week. D and run game travels well
First two games, we did little to impress, particularly on offense

Huh? Look - I get that we've played nobody but the offense has been about as good as anyone could’ve realistically hoped. We have 12 TDs and one INT through 2 games averaging 46.5 ppg. It’s the D that could’ve been better but hopefully that will pick up when our starters get healthy.
First two games against cupcakes we started slow , Greg has to fix that asap against good teams.
The run game is as advertised. Showed improvement in the passing game. The D has been the surprised so far and that’s due to all the injuries.
Dave Revsine on BTN said it was the only time in our history we scored 40+ in our first two games. Ever. And we've started a lot of seasons with cupcakes.
Maybe the D is not so much a surprise but a cause for worry for next year or this year if we don't get the injured players back.
I see the slow starts . We are built to run the ball , control the clock and have our D hold the opponent . Playing from behind and and trying to air raid our way to a victory is not our formula. Get the lead quickly …..keep the lead.

If you look at the first two games first halves, we really did not impress there, based on who we were playing
I would have hoped we could have come out and pushed these two teams around from the start, but both teams gave us considerable trouble
I believe this is why some of the preseason hype from outside prognosticators faded a bit
The good news is that we can work out any kinks as we go along and have a great season

But is VT a good team? I don’t think so. I think Drones is talented, but their coaching staff isn’t very good, they can’t stop the run, and their receivers have not looked good, plus Ali Jennings is hurt again. The Vandy team they lost to just lost to Georgia State!! Let’s win this game and take Drones with us when we leave!
The point is we need a fast start not a slow start against every team on our schedule starting this week .
