Disclaimer: Of course they know a ton more about this stuff than I do.

In Manasquan Riddle Way Beach is more than half way north of the Inlet. Inlet, Whiting, Pompano, Brielle, Main 1, and Main 2 beaches are all between the Inlet and Riddle. Why go that far if you're going to say you're also helping the Manasquan beaches? With the northerly migration, in the end it'll help Sea Girt and Spring Lake more than the majority of Manasquan.

What am I missing?

And the Army Camp beach. Twas a great place to party as a teenager in the 1980s.

I watched the process on Tuesday. It looks like they start the dumping (idle for a minute or two)at Whiting maybe it doesn’t start really flowing until Riddle. You can visibly see the boat rising in the water as it progresses northbound. They turn the boat around at Army beach.

You guys may be missing the unique position New Jersey is in with high-pop centers (in other states) within easy reach of its beaches. Long Island has paid beaches too. While the State of New Jersey could form a department to handle maintenance of all its beaches and provide free access.. and demand free access to all beaches.. it would be a big problem, IMHO. Let every town decide for itself. There's just too many people within too easy reach.

Manasquan has won 9 of the last 10 years state championships. Funny thing it was a club sport until 2017, didn't get any funding from athletics dept, when it became a recognized varsity sport. So they won 3 state titles as a club hahhahaha

OC is a club too, they get no funding from the school at all.

If we are being fair, I believe the Squan coach is also the head of the association and he has changed the rules numerous times on # of girls allowed to compete depending on what the talent level is on his girls team. If we are being fair there should be the same # of boys and girls competing each year..

Regardless OC are the current champs.

From what I can see online Manasquan coach is not the head of the association NSSA

“Townsend, the NSSA leader, said surfing is an ever-changing environment. Townsend, of Surf City, knows firsthand how hard that is. He's the coach of the Southern Regional High School team, which brings in students from Long Beach Island.”

And OC surf team is listed as a varsity sport in the schools website.

I think, if you want, you can access the beach without needing a pass now and look at the off shore drilling platform Shell will be putting up to take the place of it's dismantled windmill 😁

Agreed. That place was packed every damn day it was open. How do you loss so much money and accrue that amount of debt? It's a mystery. If the lawsuits against him go to trial, maybe we will find out. He must have been doing some shady stuff that mixed finances of the pier and other pursuits.

Multiple wives doesn’t help either. Having to pay kids $15/hour to operate kiddie rides and an increase in discounted tickets. Back in the day there was no advance ticket sales at 50% off. You showed up and paid full price, now it’s expected by most people since you can buy them online. Even when my kids were little pre internet you had to at least show up on Easter weekend to buy them.

The pre season sales at 50% off don’t hurt the bottom line. It’s cash flow. It helps the owners manage operational and start up expenses. The starino family that owns and operates Jenkinsons and the amusements in Seaside have said that the pre season sales help to keep them operational for first couple of months without taking on debt.
