Who runs the team if QB1 goes down?

I sure as hell hope it's Ajani. Granted, I haven't seen Surace play, but I hope Ajani pushes Athan for the starting spot.
I’m pretty sure AJ was NEVER being used for more than 4 appearances this season, regardless.
It may have been decided to start the season, but development continues through the course of the season and I hope Sheppard pushes Athan.
its not long term but enough to impact this season

QB 1 needs to stay healthy , otherwise the season outlook changes dramatically.

Actually significant playing time the 1st 2 weeks would be best for him and the team.
Ajani won me a natty in NCAA 25. I vote for him.
Ajani was the best QB in the spring game, as limited as that game is, so he better be #2. Love his skill set: he appears to make good reads and throws pretty accurately and can run well. As much as we need reps for AK in the first 2 games, we also need to get some reps for Ajani in garbage time (a given for Howard and probably for Akron).
He played locally at Iona Prep .
I also saw his plays in spring game.
He also has a lot of games on Youtube (vs Bosco, Bergen etc)
All the service academies recruited him so he's smart (under appreciated for football QB - its a "mind job")

Ajani is better than Gavin.
Not a big drop off from Athan.
Someone needs to hang out at Subway on Easton to overhear the answer.
That feels like an overly optimistic view on Ajani.

The problem (for every team) is the "garbage time reps" are usually just hand offs.
Minimal pass attempts.
While not totally useless, not going to help much is reading live defenses and making throws.
Developing a backup QB is always tricky.
It would be interesting if a HC ever considered just starting their #2 against an Akron or Howard. To get them meaningful reps.
Obviously having an experienced and returning #1 would help with that.
Luxury we don't have.

I don’t know how that can be said at this point. AK has approx 20 B1G starts and has had success leading his team to victory. Ajani hasn’t thrown a pass in a B1G game. Maybe in the long run, Ajani may be as good or better but not at this point. You can’t point any stock in the Spring game or what they do against a Wagner or Howard, it’s not indicative of what will be faced in a B1G game.
It is pretty obvious that you have NOT attended any recent practices, for you to make that statement

As always, I trust the coaching staff to play the QB with the best chance to win the game. Whomever it might be.
Also as always, as soon as we have a loss, or even just a really bad game, I expect some fans to start inventing convoluted theories as to why the coaching staff isn’t playing some other QB. And many fans will insist they know better than the coaches who should be starting.
If that stuff ain’t happening, it’s just not football season.

You know there are always those posters that love the back up QB no matter who it is ……Simon, Snyder, Rettig on and on in the history of RU.
We’ve had the best backup QBs in the world !
Chase Dodd won BE Offensive Player of the Week for his first start (vs UConn).
He was better than a few starters
Not to scare anyone, but I seem to recall rumors about 10-12 years ago that Amy Towers was the driving force behind the Julie hire. For people much more on the inside than I any truth to that? Question based on Schiano's comment on the presser.
