What's involved in a background check? The assistant coach isn't a highly sensitive position with state secrets. I'd imagine just criminal record and whether or not he has ever misgendered someone.

Rutgers takes a long time doing their background checks.
State/public university so someone hired from out of state probably has to wait something like 30 days for fingerprints to clear
Jesus, does Rutgers do a DNA test as well to make sure his Birth Certificate is valid?
Pretty sure the state is responsible for the fingerprinting related stuff, not Rutgers.
I’m just spitballing though, I don’t know if that’s what’s happening here
During Covid, our background checks would take a couple weeks.
The person i recently hired was done in about a week.
