Colombia now up 1-0 and what is, yet again, a stadium sold out with 90% Colombian fans. Absolutely amazing job by them throughout this tournament!

If that’s a red card for an American that’s a red card for a Colombian or anyone else. See you!

It was given as a yellow, then red since it was the second. But it was a straight red in any game. Every bit as dumb as Weah’s brain-fart foul. Both players knew it too, soon as they walked off the field.

Very stupid foul. Credit to Uruguay though they baited the guy with the yellow and he was stupid enough to bite.

The acting of these Latin American teams is just atrocious for the game
Maybe not atrocious but definitely annoying. The constant exaggerated injuries and emotional meltdowns detract from the actual play. I watched England-Netherlands and there was none of this.

At 68:45 the guy rolled 5 times on the ground. Made me dizzy watching.

Went to dinner with kids at Colombian restaurant-bar down the street. Got there at 6:30, 90 minutes before kickoff. Already packed. We were lucky to get a seat. Super crowd. Mostly groups of families, as many women and kids as men.

I went to the game last night with my kid. I have serious worries about the World Cup and the absolute disaster that is the final 2 miles to the parking lots. It was chaos and there were dozens of parking lot attendants who were just randomly walking around for no reason instead of helping the gridlock. Furthermore, the number of state troopers giving escorts to some cars was pathetic. Does this happen every weekend at Jets/ Giants games?
Traffic getting to the stadium was pretty bad. Parking was a breeze for me though. Bought prepaid passes, got to the game early. Getting out was even easier. Meadowlands to south brunswick in 45 min.

Atrocious. Other teams don’t do this. It’s bad for the game.

Now Uruguay players in the stands going after Colombian fans. Ooof

Just watched the DVR as I was out this evening. Wild, crazy, insanely entertaining game. Colombia was clearly the best team, even when down to 10 (deserved, of course), as they easily could've had 2 more goals in that second half, plus their defending was heroic. Also can't overlook how important James has been to them with his ball distribution, especially on set pieces - that corner was gorgeous as was the header into the net. Can't wait to see the final.

Credit to Colombia. Very well rounded team. Should have won by more despite being a man down.

lol, not even close, even being a man up. Of course, I got it right.
Definitely better than your always wrong weather predictions

Not even close lol. 1-0 and Uruguay has numerous chances. Stick to frisbee golf

Weak, weak, weak. Saying the weather forecasts are "always" wrong is just stupid. Some are, most aren't.

And Uruguay losing 1-0 to a Colombia team down to 10 men clearly shows Colombia was the better team, plus they even had better chances than Uruguay in that 2nd half with 10 men. You were way wrong. Man up and own it and quit whining.

You were wrong saying it wasn’t close. Stop crying.

And stop always looking for attention. It’s embarrassing.

Rutgers hosted frisbee golf world championship in 1982.

Ten years earlier, Rutgers defeated Princeton in the first game of ultimate frisbee. Happened on same site as football birthplace with same winning margin, 2.

Actually, it was the 1982 World Frisbee Championships at RU and it featured many events, including ultimate, distance, maximum time aloft, guts, disc golf, freestyle and a few others. As an RU ultimate player back then (81/82, til I developed shin splints) I attended the 1982 event, which was a blast. I started playing disc golf when they installed the 18-hole basket course at Douglass a few months before the 1982 Championships (there had been an object course there before that, but didn't know about it) and got hooked. Played tons of disc golf in the 80s, including many tourneys at RU and a few in Philly (Sedgely) and Mt. Kisco, but got tired of only playing at RU (only course in NJ back then) and switched to ball golf for most of the next 30+ years, but picked disc golf back up with gusto in late 2020 and play a ton now.

Good old thread, below, about much of this history from about 4 years ago. Quite a few disc golfers and ultimate players on the board. Also, a good link to the history of Ultimate, below, which was invented at Maplewood HS in the late 60s and as you noted, the first college ultimate match was RU-Princeton in 1972.

So what’s the viewing plan?
Watch the first half of the game. Transition to House Of The Dragon.
Watch 2nd half on delay.

This is absurd. How did security fail so badly here? They host tons of events for the NFL, CFB, soccer, etc.

This Copa has been rough.

Complaints about the grass in many venues during group play
End of Uruguay/Colombia
Crowd control tonight

World Cup organizers have 2 years to figure things out.

I’m imagining Abrams tanks and AH-64 Apache helicopters roaming the area around the venues. Single file, mile long approaches enclosed with tunnels of razor wire for ticket-holders. Gate staff armed with .50 cal machine guns. The area outside the razor-wire tunnels being a no-man’s land filled with anti-personnel mines.

That’ll get ‘er done.
