Need to go 5-1.
That’s a tough ask. Best shot might be a magical conference tourney run for the first time since 1989.

NIT is for losers. I know 2004 was great for us, but.after the transfers, mag out for a while, and only recent return of jermiah Williams, NIT is very attainable even if we finish only a couple of games over .500.
Given the talent we have coming in next year, need some of the older guys to get experience with tournament basketball.NIT is for losers. I know 2004 was great for us, but.
Agreed but for this team, it would be a good achievement. I wasn't even expecting that a month ago. Team looked like an Eddie Jordan team and has stepped up.NIT is for losers. I know 2004 was great for us, but.
There are opportunities. But like you posted , 2 more losses puts us out of the tournament.I disagree with OP..why would the season be over. This RU team will bounce back and win again and there are alot of opportunities ahead. Its deflating we lost because the ncaa may not be happening but that does not mean there are not other things to play for and the big 10 tourney will be a wide open affair.
Might be the only reasonable goal, but a little early for itNIT is a good goal
Gives the younger players additional practice and a few additional games.NIT is for losers. I know 2004 was great for us, but.
Blah.. Blah.. Blah..This game was a missed opportunity with a very good first half against a opponent with multiple scoring threats. The start of the second half saw Rutgers shooting bricks that allowed Minnesota to dominate the second half.Rutgers missed too many layups while Minnesota made too many 3 pointers.I don't understand why Rutgers waited to the last minutes of the game to full court press which caused turnovers and baskets to reduce the margin of defeat.
True about the B10 tournament. Purdue and Illinois will be on opposite sides of the bracket.I disagree with OP..why would the season be over. We haven’t made a conference tourney final in 35 years . We haven’t made the semis in 26 yearsTrue about the B10 tournament. Purdue and Illinois will be on opposite sides of the bracket.
We could get to the final by beating one of them or by beating the team that beat one of them,
Once you get to the final, anything can happen.
Because you posted that 10-10 would be about the 15th team out . That means we need to go 5-1 to have a shot . That is going to be tough . Not impossible, but tough. That’s why I posted “could”I disagree with OP..why would the season be over. This RU team will bounce back and win again and there are alot of opportunities ahead. Its deflating we lost because the ncaa may not be happening but that does not mean there are not other things to play for and the big 10 tourney will be a wide open affair.
Generally, agree with this, but at this point the NIT would be a great way to go into next season.NIT is for losers. I know 2004 was great for us, but.
If we beat Purdue , season not over yetGenerally, agree with this, but at this point the NIT would be a great way to go into next season.
I don’t think anyone is saying we are too good for the NIT. Just that it’s a loser bracket . College basketball is all about making the ncaa tournament. For most programs, making the ncaa tournament or not is the sole judge of your season . I think that’s where we are at . Credit to pike for building the program up so that is the metricEnough with the NIT is for loser stuff. We’ve largely sucked for the past 40 years.
Off the top of my head, I think we’ve had less than seven NCAA appearances during that time, and certainly not made much noise once in
A few years ago we would’ve all loved the NIT. Let’s make a few deep runs into the NCAA’s before we declare our self too good for the NIT.
It’s an arrogant attitude and one that we do not deserve to have given our Lack of success historically

Program is built . This isn’t year 1 or 2 .You need to build a program, and a way to do that is to have more practices more games and more exposure
The NIT is the next best thing to the NCAA, and let’s hope after next year, we don’t have to worry about the NIT again anytime in our lifetimes
It would be an accomplishment coming from the view point they didn’t mail it in. Made something of the seasontotally
"NIT is for losers"... puhleaaze.
hey Plum - we aint Duke/ kentucky/ UNC .
this year an NIT bid would not be a total loss by any stretch. in fact, as others have said, considering where this season was just 2 weeks ago, having the team turn-it-around and EARN an NIT bid would be a solid accomplishment. plus the benefit of some tourney experience, etc, etc.
while still hoping for the NCAAs (with the SLIGHT chance still remaining). I will be totally fine with the NIT this year.
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!?Over? Did you say over? Nothing is over until we decide it is!
It's not built to last, yetProgram is built . This isn’t year 1 or 2 .
Pike and knight have been here 8 years.
Playing well in the NIT or playing has no effect on next years team.
But if that’s were we are selected to go, then so be it .

But then why don't you embrace it-- some would say your comments are typical of a loser.NIT is for losers. I know 2004 was great for us, but.
