i think with edey and the elbows its not his fault he is taller than everyone, you may think he is swinging his elbows at peoples head but I think he has the right to do that

also if edey walks all the time then why isnt it called ever
After I got home I rewatched the game. I counted three (not close) walks that should have been called, and probably a fourth. All three resulted in points that should not have been on the board.

Can't blame Edey, he takes what the refs gives him. Walking, moving picks, etc . But, other than that, we our own worst enemy in the first half. If we shot half way decently in first half, we win this game even with the Edey non calls. we needed the second half intensity for the whole game.

Equally true that Officiating never helps us and more than most hurts us.

Despite awful shooting, Purdue had a huge advantage, 19-25 v 8-13 in an 8 point game. So Purdue had twice as many attempts and made 11 more. That’s a huge factor in the game. It just is.

The refs had nothing to do with Purdue’s loss last year and Edey played well, his teammates just didn’t show up.

Big Ten conference games have Big Ten-paid refs who’s best interest is to tow the company line and better to have a conference player with National POY and have a team stay ranked as high as possible.

In the NCAAs when Purdue plays East West Catholic University, the refs are from say the Big 12 or ACC, not the Big Ten, and are impartial and actually call Edey for traveling, 3 seconds, and fouls which he gets away with in conference play.
You obviously haven't watched much of Purdue basketball this year or you would know that Edey is very good about avoiding 3 second calls.

Edey got away with a few walks.

Other than that no issue with refs today
My biggest issue with the refs was that there were several fouls that should have been on the floor, non-shooting fouls. However, these refs seemed to be applying an NBA continuation rule as opposed to the college rule that led to a few and ones where the bucket should not have counted and free throws shot by Purdue that should have been side outs for a non shooting foul. This happened several times.

I thought the refs were very balanced in their foul calling. Had they not let some stuff go both Edey and Cliff would have been sitting early. And there have only been 2 or 3 three second calls in any RU game all year - it’s just not called. I thought Edey was actually pretty good at moving in and out of the lane. The call I hated was the late three point shot foul. That was huge.

You’re correct re: non-shooting fouls I remember two

But we got the benefit of a number of calls (or noncalls) I can remember

Refs didn’t decide outcome but edeys feet shuffling was annoying (and each time he shuffled we then fouled him and he made the FTs).

Edey is protected by the refs. They are looking for hacking not walking. He did the bunny hop 2-3 times without a call as they were not watching his feet. Agree he walked a number of times and just got away with it because he was also hacked just before or after.

It was called at least once yesterday, so it does get called

Edey was called twice for walks I rewatched quickly last night and Edey blatantly walked at least 4 times not called and 2 blatant 3 second violations and 2 blatant fouls where he hammered Woolfolk and Cliff
The worst part was the stretch where we got it to 2 points and he got 3 straight calls on 3 straight possessions which would have possibly changed the outcome as that led to 7 points by Edey

Also never gets called for moving picks which are one of his specialties.
He used to Dr onit a lot.. better now.. but thereyave been many bigs getting away with this against us.. Ruthers seems forever destined to be the Midwestern refs whipping boys

If Ace and Dylan live up to the hype next year and still don’t get calls i’ll agree there’s something up

Edey gets fouled non stop by every team and doesn't get calls on about half of them so it's hard to complain if he gets away with a walk or two while being hacked

My issue with the refs for this game was around 4 calls that should have been on the ground that were called shooting fouls. Rutgers was smartly fouling on the entry pass catch or offensive rebound a few times where it was clearly before any shooting motion
