I've watched bits and pieces of Wake Forest and Seton Hall and SHU is miles better than Wake Forest today. I have no idea how they calculate these metrics whatsoever. And Mississippi State appears to be better than Seton Hall today.

If people believe in kenpom in November (I don't, because it's too early), it sounds like this as of today.

Kenpom has MS State 16th
Seton Hall at 52
RU at 62
Penn State 72
Wake Forest 73

These ratings are kinda bogus this early, but the eye test is important. Right now Mississippi State, Wake and Seton Hall are all super important games before January.

We need to avoid a 10+ point loss in any of those games and win at least 1 to have any chance to make the NCAAs. The most valuable one as of today, looks like Mississippi State, then Seton Hall, then Wake.

Is the BPI formula accounting for a player like Mag returning?

How could it?

Also, this early, the BPI (and any computer model) is going to be heavily influenced by the rotations/performance and SOS of early OOC scheduling - best taken with a heavy dose of salt.

Some of the systems take into account returning talent and incoming recruits early in the season (doesn’t KenPom)?

The differences between home and away against the same team are big. If somewhat accurate, JM’s is a big advantage. Our home/away history probably supports this.

Mississippi St is actually really good this year. Saw them play live twice and on TV twice. Guard play looks really good and their bigs are very solid. Also... they are without their best play Tolu Smith who has been sidelined with a leg injury, unsure when he will be back
