It's on ESPN2. Close game that can go either way. Northwestern is not athletic, and it hurts them at times. Miss State has length, but they struggle if you can pressure them into speeding up.

Any team with solid guard play can give NW problems. Miss State guards are running circles around NW's backcourt, which is the game's difference. NW can't play man-to-man against teams with several ballhandlers as they can create their shots. NW doesn't have the foot speed to stay in front. Watch NW play zone against us.

Miss State is athletic and has a lot of one-on-one action. Miss State's (Fr.) Hubbard (5'9) is a pure scorer. He'll beat you off the bounce, from outside, and is strong while playing bigger than his size. As Hubbard goes, so does Miss State. Hubbard is responsible for half of their points.

They may be undefeated and ranked in the top 20 when we face them. Tough game.

The guard Hubbard is the all-time leading scorer for the state of Mississippi in High School basketball. He did a year of prep before enrolling at Miss State. The key for Rutgers is to contain/slow Hubbard down. Without his scoring, Miss State is below average. When Hubbard is scoring, it opens up the floor for everyone else. That is a tall task.

Hubbard is a Top 100 range kid in the 2023 class......Mississippi State clearly looks like the best OOC opponent we have played in a while.

Does the Big 10 have ANY quality OOC wins this year?

Conference is quite mediocre with exception of Purdue and Michigan State
Weakest early season by the B1G that I can remember. Usually, they don’t tank until March so maybe it will be the opposite this year 🙄. They did split the Gavitt games but Purdue and Michigan State were both home and UConn didn’t play.

But it's a great casino to stay at and I don't have to pay for rooms.

The B1G is looking mediocre rn. That could change during Feast Week games 🤷🏾‍♂️

A B1G "watcher" that I talk with thinks that the B1G will be "lucky" to get 5 teams in the tournament this year.

I think that's a harsh assessment but time will tell.

I wouldn't call the B1G mediocre as much as reality has caught up with perception. Also, there are fewer dominating programs than there once were due to several factors. You have NIL and the transfer portal, which causes players to jump from program to program. Add the G-League, which has an impact to a lesser degree than the NIL but still affects college basketball. This goes for all college basketball, not just the B1G being suspect.

Maybe the B1G isn't as bad as we thought. Purdue took care of Gonzaga. Indiana put Louisville away and Wisconsin is doing a number on a ranked UVA team.
Purdue and Wisconsin picked up good wins. Louisville is awful. They got a one-point struggle win over a UMBC team that lost to Marist.

The Indiana win is more "avoid bad loss" than anything positive. The fact they struggled so long to pull ahead doesn't bow well for how Indiana is playing now.

It’s sure nice to see these 4 teams from the “B1G East” down as the bottom 4 in the conference standings right now:

Michigan 4-3
Penn State 4-3
Maryland 3-3
MSU 3-3 (what happened here!??)
