Maryland down to Nova 28-11

It's early but Big Ten looks like trash this season

The conference is overrated and has been exposed in March for several years now.

I see no reason why Rutgers can't finish top 5 in the B1G if the B1G continues to lay eggs.

Easy now, pump the brakes…..all of us were just hoping that the guard play would improve and Fernandes would actually do something in a game. Now we’re finishing top 5. Let’s let these guys gel together a little more and keep improving.

They just got to the first media timeout of the second half and Maryland still has not scored in the half. They're down 31 points and have 15 total... Lord

Arkansas down 11 to UNC Greensboro 3 minutes left.

Feels like way more big upsets than usual this season. Function of the portal I guess

I haven't felt the B1G was the "best" conference for awhile now, but what I "DID" feel despite the early exits in March every year is that it has been the DEEPEST conference, top to bottom, for a bunch of seasons now, with 10-12 solid teams each and every year, making it the "toughest". To me, toughest/deepest is different than "best". And that because of that, there's some validity to the idea that the deepest means most teams are beat up after they get through the conference grind. That said, that may not be the case this year, but who cares. Still gonna be a grind.

Maryland with an unbelievably bad half offensively.
It almost looks like they forgot how to shoot. Hasn’t seen something like this in a long time. Don’t even think Villanova is that good but Maryland has missed so many easy shots , open shots , they looked like they have been drugged tonight

In our game against Georgetown, Fernandes missed an easy layup. It was like a layup line layup. I thought to myself I don’t think I’ve ever seen a D1 basketball player miss an unrushed, uncontested layup like that. Maryland gave me that same feeling for the whole first half.

Also there's a weird thing where most of the BIG tourney teams - given we have good depth but not elite teams - are 6 seed+ but then ESPN yells why are all these BIG teams losing before the elite 8? Well... because we are 7 and 8 seeds and Kansas and Duke and Carolina are.... better?

Why? Everyone else can dream except Rutgers. Several teams projected ahead of us are always given the benefit of the doubt. Rutgers, on the other hand, has to prove themselves continually. All I'm saying is if you set the bar low at two and clear it at 3, that's nothing to celebrate. Aim for ten, and if you finish at 8, that's a real accomplishment.

I would've thought a top 4 finish this season was crazy talk after Princeton, but looking around, why the heck not us?

Purdue is a top 4 lock if Edey plays all year. Michigan State will probably be up there too.

That leaves two slots.

Michigan just lost at home to Long Beach and gave up 94 in the process.

Maryland can't hit the ocean from a rowboat tonight.

Indiana lost two to the NBA. They haven't looked great from what I've heard. First major teat is Sunday against UConn.

Iowa still doesn't defend and lost Murray #2.

Illinois might be tough.

Wisconsin looks worse than usual.

As Wenzel said, "Dream big dreams!"

I think I know the play you are taking about but I had the opposite reaction. Noah broke the defenders ankles and blew by him, but missed the layup. While it would have been better to convert the shot, that was the play where I thought Noah was finally taking it up a notch and looked like the player we thought he was going to be.
