RU72 says bad turnout from Rutgers vs Princeton so far

Sorry it makes "sense" and as I previously stated , I was fearing this kind of a showing. It has nothing to do with how RU travels-- that's nonesense. Just go back to last year's garden game with MSU. It's who we play and more importantly where we play this game.
I've been told by people who have gone to this arena that the area is really bad. I'm wavering on going.

Never would have guessed a game against an Ivy no one considers to be a rival, on a Monday night in downtown Trenton wouldn’t sell well.

It's great for hockey, the Circus and I assume box lacrosse, arena football.
Is it ok getting in and out of the arena? It appears to be a lovely part of Trenton.
I know this is sacrilegious to older fans - but I couldn't care less about playing Princeton.

You had to (1) be a season ticket holder and (2) order at least a couple months in advance to get tickets through Rutgers (which is what the tweet in the OP is referring to), so it's not like they'll only be 2,000 RU fans there.
Definitely tickets left in the upper level and in the corners per the map view on Ticketmaster, but OP is kinda misleading.

Are student tickets available? I bought a ticket for my daughter and I will pick her up, but she told me she didn't hear about student tickets/bus trip or anything??

I’m a season ticket holder and didn’t end up getting my tickets through Rutgers (didn’t like that I couldn’t choose my seat). I’m sure there are plenty of other Rutgers fans attending who chose not to purchase through Rutgers.
Upper level looks like very few tickets have sold. Still 8 floor seats available which is kind of funny.
Also tickets are way too expensive for so many ****** sighrline in this crap arena
I just went back in my emails... We got the notification to request through RU allotment back on August 2nd... I'm sure a lot of people ended up waiting to see if they could actually make the game before having to go through Ticketmaster.
I bought upper cheapest avail. Assuming about four people working the event and can sit wherever you want. Hopefully those floor chairs still avail, I'm getting down there.
A vocal minority of fans and NJ media wanted this game, and a (hopefully vocal) minority of fans and media will be in attendance. It makes sense
I don't even think most people realize the college basketball season opens on Monday. Terrible to open the season with this game in a neutral location.
Can only state so many times that this game had no juice and didn't register with the majority of the fanbase and will not register with the roster.
There's literally no upside to playing Princeton, but when people whine loud enough for years and years, they get their attention and somehow this debacle gets scheduled......and it's a sleepy environment against a nondescript opponent that only needs to shoot well for a half, to put a team into a bind.
Sign me up for Georgetown at the RAC or even on a weekend trip to DC, Mississippi State in Newark, SHU in Newark and Michigan, Michigan State at MSG.....not Princeton. I believe it's been said that many OOC teams dont want to play at Jersey Mike's.
I buy into the logic that if you are not a Rutgers season ticket holder, this game has some appeal to see in person. You could pick up a good seat to see RU live.
Otherwise, with it being on television, I'm good with watching from my couch.
As for the whole RU-Princeton thing, I do think it's kind of funny that most of you guys are being snobs about it when they are the team that was just in the Sweet 16 and has dominated this series.
If RU beats them by the 7 point Vegas spread, then maybe we can strut a little.

To be fair sadly more about Trenton than the game. That’s why games should never be there during a RAC renovation. Ironically might be smarter to try to rent Jadwin or Monmouth.
Neutral site games, meaning we do not have to make a return trip to play at Princeton or Starkville.
I’ve been to Trenton Arena a few times, smaller arena, old , horrible area-really bad, but fine to drive there from the highway just don’t rely on mass transit to get there , had good times to see the Trenton Devils.
The Prudential Center Arena is state of the art, a MUCH nicer area , bars literally 10 steps outside of the arena, and you can take the train from New Brunswick there.

I was born in Elizabeth. I used to hang in Elizabeth and Newark. Bringing my son though.
AD where I work told me it was bad and he hates bringing his kid there for wrestling tournaments.
There was a thread talking about taking the train and then walking to the arena. Consensus from folks familiar with that route was it might not be the smartest thing to do.
They have parking at the arena and plenty of it all my kids graduated from there
