the appeal of a lot of the games on the ESPN networks has gone way down without them having the Big Ten.
Games that would have been on ESPN+ in recent years are making it onto ESPNU and the numbers are ugly.
I think it's probably somewhat negligible comparing the lower tier games of before to the lower tier ones of this year. It's essentially filler programming and I'm not sure how much pre and post B10 filler type games for Disney matter.

I think the biggest thing that matters for all the networks are the top of the ticket games that attract millions, specifically 4M plus games. Those games and eyeballs help drive ad dollars.

would love to know the peacock numbers
Unless NBC releases it, I'm not sure it'll be known. They don't use Nielsen for measuring Peacock. It was some firm called Adobe Analytics. The released numbers for the OSU/ND game (simulcast with NBC) which were posted above. It was like 600K streaming on Peacock for that game. Not sure that any of the Peacock exclusive games had numbers released.

Ratings for Friday’s game. 3.3M is a good number for late night. Of course the game went from ho hum to exciting finish.

They’re losing steam and their numbers will drop unless it’s a big name opponent.
I said earlier in the season if they don’t win and stay ranked it’s likely they will lose some of the tv mojo.

But they haven’t lost all of it yet and not sure if they will lose all of it this season. For now there might be a floor of how low they go on “accessible tv.”

Mandel is right, I often see 1.5M numbers give or take for late night CFB games. So 3.3M is good number considering Colorado isn’t ranked and Stanford was 1-4.

Would love to know if the numbers increased or decreased from the first half to the second half. Guessing that as word got out on the comeback, more West coast people tuned in.

Consolidation is a good thing for CFB. We’re getting better matchups and

Catch them in a game vs Stanford on a Saturday afternoon and those numbers look way different IMO.

Yea there would be more competition but comparing them to other late night windows on Friday or Saturday is fairly apples to apples. Those games are largely exclusive too without competition and they get in the 1.5M range for the most part. An unranked Colorado against a 1 win Stanford doubled that.

I think a lot of people are probably tuning in just to see how possible it is or is not to turn around a team with big NIL money. It's the first test case to see if it's possible to have upward mobility at this point in college football. It's never been easy.

Deion has done a great job marketing himself and the program, but marketing isn’t enough. The product has to back it up

I’d argue A&M was the first true test case, but they didn’t kick off 80% of their team for replacements.

I live in Colorado and couldn’t be happier to see this experiment fail.

The amount of people that are buffs “fans” that couldn’t tell you about last years team is astonishing.

As a Rutgers fan, I appreciate the slow rebuild. The change in culture. The commitment to a university.

I don’t mean to derail things, but this whole Colorado experiment has felt so empty.

Don’t know how it compares to other years, but ABC’s Saturday night game has finished in the top 5 in 2 out of 7 weeks so far. Both involved ND and does not include their special Labor Day Sunday night game that was #1 for its week.

Well Fox's Big Noon strategy proved you can put big games anywhere in the day and they have the potential to do well.

Once the B1G gets the 3:30 CBS slot next year, along with noon on Fox and 7:30 on NBC, the B1G ratings will be huge (combined) nearly every week.
Adding USC and Oregon won’t hurt either.

Fox has had that strategy for x years now. My curiosity was the impact of ABC not having any B1G conference games. Two (or three if one counts Labor Day Sunday) weeks making top 5 so far seems like a low number.

Granted, it is only one season with next year and the SEC. Time will tell how it works out.

Yea Fox has been doing that since they entered CFB.

I’m not sure if you can judge ABC primetime yet because they don’t have the SEC GOTW this year. Next year they get it.

Don't like that Iowa State vs Cincy on FS1 outdrew our game at noon by about 7%. As far as I can tell, FS1 might even be in fewer homes than BTN (google suggested 71M for FS1 and 80M for BTN but it looked very ball-park-guess for both).

I would have thought both our programs should outdraw each of those. Cincy has had a good run recently, but their metro area has about 2.2M people. Hmm.. Lansing is only .5M. 126K in Aimes. 55K in New Brunswick but all of these should draw more liberally from their staets.

1. Buffs record and recruiting will be better than last year: the definition of coaching success.

2. The SNL sketch was great.

I think that is largely because fans from other leagues don’t pay attention to BTN. I never think to click on the ACC network or SEC network.

But fox isn’t exclusive so I will flip there to see what’s on. Got to imagine there are others like me.

possible and good take. either way, our numbers are far from bad in the grand scheme of things. I'd imagine this week they will be higher as people tune in to see if we are bowl eligable. of course it would help if we had local media promote us

Agree with this.
Plus Sparty having an awful season - their casual fans tuned out a while back.
And RU casual fans were probably looking for the game on the BTN alternative channels /jk
