Someone at Rutgers is reading these boards or the surveys...at least partially

Video board kept us updated all game with scores around CFB today. A positive change.

Now if they would just listen to the complaints about the horn....

Noticed the Scores on Board today as well..... very nice !!
However, during Schiano's Post game presser, he was asked about game day experiences like the boardwalk and other things. . He addressed a few things but specifically mentioned the horn sound as being a positive for the young fan's experience !! With that stance....dont think you will be getting any movement from RU in that area.

Saw that too. Good job Rutgers. Now put the down and distance up permanently so I can stop looking all the way down to the North end to see it.
So i noticed, it’s still on this end - its just below the scoreboard (above the recruiting lounge) so just below where it used to be .. I noticed it last game and now look there, got used to it after today

Maybe NJ Transit & Amtrak can be convinced to provide some NIL money??

I’m getting whiplash looking at the scoreboard for the down / yardage situation to then to have to rush to the other scoreboard. Ugh.

No.

The train horn is so successful that plenty of others use it. It's fine when used right and not every 3rd down to drown out the FPSU student chants.
YES!! I’ll just agreed to disagree with you Leonard…

The current song is 40 YEARS old and corny…

90% of the B1G teams use on 3rd down now too! Even the “Make Some Noise” crap is used by other teams just before it’s played.

It's time to step into the 90’s with the guitar riffs. Any of the songs on Nevermind or In Utero will have plenty of heavy riffs that could be pulled and used for 3rd or 4th down.

The groups Rage Against the Machine, Soundgarden, STP, Alice In Chains, Tool have some good ones too.

I’m not saying all the time but try mixing it up and see what happens.

Maybe just maybe… It has become so old, stale, processed and repetitive after 40 YEARS (that is when Metallic first released it) or 20 years of usage by Rutgers it doesn’t have the same effect on the crowds and that is why NO ONE gets loud.

ITS 40 YEARS OLD!!!! Time for something new…. IMHO

I hear ya, but I prefer the current 3rd down song and have no interest in killing the student air guitar tradition by switching to something else. People get loud on 3rd down. The train horn is solely to drown out the FPSU student chants.

I can’t stand the air guitar anymore… hahah

Either way… I think maybe not replacing it completely and rather having like three/four different ones and use the traditional one less would be a good compromise.

Then when you have a REALLY B1G 3rd down play you pull out the air guitar traditional one and it has the affect we want.

The only way we are going to know is if they try and I would like to see them experiment.

The horn wasn't quite as bad, but still blowing it after scores, drowning out the cannon,
Isn't a train horn used to warn people of an approaching train? If the scoreboard horn is so loud people can hear it well outside teh stadium, isn't there a danger of them ignoring an actual train horn thinking it is just the stadium horn? 😜 Sounds like a future legal issue to me..

The train horn is for the young fans' experience? There are children in my section literally wearing PPE to protect themselves from its obnoxious volume! The horn itself is fine in my opinion, it's just too loud, and so is the PA music. I was at the Michigan game and it was so refreshing to have the music at a reasonable volume, to hear the band play more often, to have a scoreboard with out of town scores (glad they finally fixed that here) as well as game stats, and last but not least--to not have to hear Click Click Boom between 15 and 20 times throughout the game.

Sadly I bet very few of the current students even know that the motion is suppoed to be an air guitar. For the past decade, most think it's just some kind of wave.
