Here are some more of the memorable moments of this historic rivalry.

1986 - in the season finale at rutgers stadium , temple had Bruce arians at coach and a wonderful running back, Paul Palmer. Palmer had a big day as temple held on to win by a touchdown as a late drive by us faltered. But rutgers would have the last laugh as Palmer was later found out to have been paid that season, and temple had to vacate the win!

1993 - rutgers gave temple a historic 62-0 drubbing at giants stadium. Rutgers entire home schedule was played at giants stadium that season. One of graber’s best moments in East Rutherford.

1997 - rutgers was welcomed to the old vet by getting beat down 49-7. This was not a good temple team, but it may have been the worst rutgers team of all time. The knights finished 0-11!

2002- the famous temple game in the rain that every true rutgers fan says they were there and stayed . We can all say we saw the great Tanardo . Temple wins a thriller on a late field goal . Temple RB tanardo sharps gave arguably the greatest performance in rutgers stadium history - he rushed for what are still rutgers stadium records - 48 carries and 248 yards. Sharps had 4 straight games against rutgers where he rushed for at least 100 yards. Obviously , Sharps won the heisman and was the next Barry sanders in the NFL .

2004- this was a sad one. schiano was getting the program on an upward swing as rutgers got a nice 16-6. The season went the wrong way after this game as a drunk tailgater seriously injured some of our players in a postgame car crash

2013- the nova to leonte magical 4th down touchdown to beat temple at the end! Flood was acting like he just won the damn sugar bowl in the postgame. I was convinced there and then that flood needed to be canned. But he lasted 2 more seasons!

2021 - the ida game! Game got moved 2 days thanks to hurricane ida flooding piscataway. Rutgers had a nice 61-14 opening win.

The 2013 game was the game I knew Flood had to be fired. He had a QB competition that week and gave Nova the starting job and showed how much confidence he had in Nova by starting off the first drive of the game with 7 straight run plays.

That was one of those games where you walked out of the stadium thinking if a loss would have been a better a result for the program’s long term health. Same with usf that season

I recall 2013 only becuase we went out with friends for dinner after the game at Due Mari. I go on a tirade about how bad our offense was and how we were lucky to win the game. After I finish, I look over and realize that Ron Prince is sitting two tables away. He gave me a look - but I wasn’t wrong.

That '12 game was a wild one. #15 RU down 10-0 at half to a lousy Temple team. Nova threw 4 TDs in the 2nd half and ran away with it in a laugher, 35-10. RU staved off an embarrassing loss, but only for a week. They followed with that 7-turnover, Homecoming crapfest to Kent State, that knocked RU from the ranks of the unbeaten.

There was a game in there when we started turning the corner as a BE program - think it was 2003. Leonard had a good game and we won 30-7 or 14 at the Linc.

1991, my last game as a Rutgers band member. RU 41, Temple 0. I remember thinking, well, we didn't make it to a bowl while I was here, but we are on our way and it will happen soon!

Under the current bowl structure those teams would have bowled 2-3 times.

That is hilarious! I have a similar story with regards to Floods tenure. Was working downtown in the financial district. Security guard of my building, was always busting my chops when Rutgers lost. He stops me and says something to the effect that the guy standing next to him was a big fan of the Rutgers head coach. I said sorry to hear that because the guy is awful. It was Floods brother. OOPS

Super funny.. the 2002 game was my first game (stayed to the end) and after that I was hooked for life.

2003 think it was the like the 2nd or 3rd game ever played in the Linc. We break a 23 game Big East losing steak blowing them out.

Remember driving to game and getting tickets 2 hours before game time and they were like 20 rows up at the 50 yard line.

Was there like 6 hours early and Bob Mulchay walked by us tailgating. It was just after BC announced they were leaving the Big East and Bob said he would never play there again in any sport.
Our tailgate group chanted “F BC” and Bob came over and while not chanting with us kept pumping his arms for our chant. It was great.

He chanted it without actually chanting it. 😁

And 2001- The Big East voted in February 2001 to expel Temple from the conference effective June 30, 2002.
Temple brought that vote on themselves. Temple demanded a vote on them being either all in, or all out of the BE. They got their vote, but not the outcome they expected.

Looked him up. Does Ron Prince have a job now? He was fired by Howard in 2019.

The first time I drove to the Vet in the 90s and was able to park in the first parking row immediately adjacent the Stadium. I wasn't that early.
Went to a game at the Vet around that time for RU vs Temple parking cost $10 & the parking attendant was selling tickets to the game for $5

We’re playing to win, not to not get blown out. With their talent, you have to think they’re going to score again. Need to keep pace. I like the aggression, Mich DB made a good read on the play. Easy to second guess, but who knows if that play had been pretty successful in practice.
