I’m upset Los Borrikens are out but this has been one hell of a tournament. I couldn’t sleep one night and watched one of the Japanese games. Not only are they’re that dam good, those fans were bat 💩 insanely great.

And as @WhichReligionIsRight points out, I hope that 2026 has better marketing/ publicity because this has a chance to be like at the very least the FIBA or World Hockey championships where the countries are geeked up about those tournaments. And maybe the WBC can start approaching FIFA World Cup levels in 20 years. I does have a great future no matter how much Barstool or Sal Licata cries, dogs, and moans about how other countries sees things in life.

Good Mexico comeback and they seemed to have as many fans as Puerto Rico which surprised me, game was in Miami?

Why did both teams wear red jerseys

USA and Venezuela going mano a mano. USA up 9-7 in the 8th, on a grand slam by #9 hitter Trea Turner. #9 hitter Trea Turner. This lineup is insane.

Altuve was hit in the hand by a pitch and had to leave the game.

Game has gone final. USA wins 9-7. Advances to tomorrow night's semifinal vs. Cuba.

BTW, the manager of Team Venezuela is none other than baseball's OG, Jerry Manuel.

On my way home from the game. The most electrifying baseball game I’ve been to ever. What energy on both sides. Fans were amazing. 37k in a party atmosphere. Great baseball. Need to do this more often. What an amazing experience.

It is an ASG that actually matters.

Was busy last night but saw the highlights.
Great game and great win by The USA. Someone’s right when they said that Trea Turner 9th in any lineup is crazy. If USA/Cuba is ONLY the semifinal… 😳😳😳

BTW, this is the type of game and atmosphere that Bumgardner and the old Atlanta catcher Brian McCann frowns upon lol.

One of the most electric games I've watched. I admit I was having a hard time not rooting for Venezuela because they were such an awesome and fun team, but Turner's slam was such a great moment.

Tip of the hat to all the Caribbean/Latin teams whose fanbases have turned out with incredible energy this classic. It's made it so much fun. Hard to believe nobody from the Group of Death made it to semis, but does point to a bit of competitive balance issue with the pools. Japan is great but I can't say they earned it until they beat someone with a pulse. Cuba is by far the weakest of the Caribbean teams and their best win being either Australia or Chinese Taipei isn't saying much. Meanwhile Venezuela takes down DR, PR, and pushes USA to the brink and they're out.

Unfortunate IMO that the USA team seemed like the visiting team in Miami.
Venezuela had lots of fans there.
Luckily they were very quiet at the end.

Unless you’re going to have these games in Seattle, Minnesota, or even in Toronto, ironically most of the indoor stadiums are in the south where Latinos can get to and overtake quickly.

This is why WFAN and BARSTOOL got properly RIPPED for there THIS TOURNAMENT IS WORTHLESS takes. This means a lot to not only the Latin, Japanese and the Netherlands teams, but others are starting to get into baseball like Italy, Great Britain. Don’t know about most here but it’s a good thing that the world are starting to play baseball at the international level. Hopefully it’ll be up to them to catch up to the US, DR, PR, Japan to play at the world class level.

BTW, unless Barstool are THAT much of pricks, I can almost guarantee you that the WBC hate will nosedive if the US in in the finals, let alone win it.

Worthless series. Altuve out indefinitely due to fractured thumb.

I guess the WBC has been good for the Yankees so far. Not sure if Hicks or Donaldson are playing. One of them getting injured would be a home run for NYY!

People want to play for their country and we get to see some players who aren’t in the MLB. It’s a great experience. The players seem to love it.

Do it after the season is over. Not during spring training. Just stupid timing.
