Will Rutgers do this for their players when Rutgers beats Penn State? Hope not. Seems small time.
Im pretty sure Pitt did this a few years back when they beat them... Might have been rings but whatever

The University of Michigan was once the statesmen athletic department in college sports. But between Harbo the Clown (despite the championships), Juwan Howard, and now this, they certainly have had their share of theatrics lately
agree no necklaces , but when RU beats the Nits maybe give each player a small replica of the Tri State Monument as a reward..
If the victory means a conference championship appearance , then some form of jewelry might be in order.
Anything to forget all the mistakes they made which led to them losing to TCU.

For these kids that put everything into it , no reason why they shouldn’t get a keepsake to show their grandkids one day .
Michigan’s winning rout meant going to the playoff and finishing regular season unbeaten, so that wasn’t small time.

That was not the point. The necklaces were about the game only and not the season. Ashokan put it well below.

Talk about Napoleon complex. That's embarrassing. How can they think that was a good idea?
Not much to see here. So what? Michigan commemorated a big win with the players on the team. If Rutgers gave out momentos after the '06 Loisville game, would people have been this critical? Or would the majority have been trying to find a way to get one of the keepsakes for their collection. Let the kids/team celebrate. They are college, amateur athletes and not professionals...er, well..they used to be among the amateur ranks.
I think we should play WVU every year and give the players nice couches if we finally beat them.
...if I recall correctly OSU used to award players with a 'gold pants' necklace charm for beating Michigan in the 90's (edit- I think they still do: 'Gold pants' tradition at OSU)
