Whew. We were all awaiting a decision on how your feelings may or may not have changed. Im glad that’s been decided.

Now into other orders of business.

It’s dirty play, and a real bad look. Not just for PM, but for Rutgers and Pikiell. It’s like wearing an Oxford shirt with a mustard stain on it, without a tide stick.
Ok? And who are you? You his family? His friend? You a member of his local church? Just curious as to why your opinion matters one iota?

@FinalFourOrBust

You need to answer this. Your headline implies regularity of unethical acts, thus a character trait, not a one-off episode.

Imagine the following: “@FinalFourOrBust needs to stop cowardly evading calls for him to support his claims.“ This is the identical act to what you did. Now please either elaborate with more instances of Paul being “dirty” or take responsibility with a retraction and apology.
Paul has been chippy and a huge whiner to the refs his whole career. You would hate him if he played for Duke. Sorry dude.

Dear coward,

Your headline didn’t accuse him of being chippy or a whiner. Your headline accused him of being dirty, implied with regularity. You essentially accused him of being unethical.

I called on you to either support your claim with evidence of regular dirty acts (as differentiated from a one off), or take responsibility for the disingenuous accusation.

Your response is both cowardly and disingenuous. Have the balls to either admit you intentionally misled or make the effort to support your claim. Do this and your self esteem will forgive you.

My bet is that you don’t do this and instead make it about me personally. That would be a lot easier than facing the music. You’re the piece of trash who started a thread designed for the purpose of portraying Mulcahy as unethical. I’m not letting up until you either take responsibility or put me on Ignore.

Your move coward.

I’m surprised Paul hasn’t picked up WAY more technicals in his career, he’s always lobbying and complaining to the refs even when we are winning and playing well. Corey Sanders used to pick up Ts for literally nothing.

It was mostly an issue last year. He's been more under control this year

Only on this board after a loss would such a post appear - what a whiney bunch of losers.

I for one hope Paul keeps it going - great example of what it is to be from New Jersey.

If I have to go to war I would want someone like PM covering my back - As for the negative complainers on this board - never.

Their arms got tangled and Paul punched him. Obviously the refs saw it the same way.

So what do we say here. I think we kick him off the team but I’m not sure that is enough. Maybe get the authorities involved and have him arrested. This dude is clearly a menace to society and needs to be taken off the streets asap. Leave the final decision up to TJD and see what he wants to do as he was the one so brutally assaulted by Paul

You’re not a Rutgers fan; you’re a troll flaming, and this board went for it. You have only posted to trash Paul, Caleb, and the freshman class. You’re not a fan - you’re at best a bandwagon that started watching games 18 months ago.

You can't actually be serious, can you? Trying to trip someone is indefensible and he needs to apologize for it. Hard-nosed is great, but dirty is unacceptable. Some of his previous "hard-nosed" plays have been borderline, but this is way over the border. Also needs to stop whining and flopping and focus on playing like he did in the 2nd half of the MSU game.
He should apologize for almost doing something? Find me another example of a D1 athlete apologizing for almost committing a dirty play…

He was trolling the Indiana board for what's it worth. They thought he was a Purdue fan

What’s wrong with owning up to having some thug behavior on the team? It’s really not such a bad thing. I want teams to hate us and hate playing us. Our guys have Paul’s back. Not every one our players needs to be a “Rutgers man”.

Not a great look. But TJD was talking **** and staring us down from the start with his very first dunk and I’m sure was doing it at the end too. Paul finally lost his cool. It’s sports. Pike will have a talk with him and that’s that.
I don’t think Pike brings it up, nor will he tell Caleb to stop chucking. He’s 100% a players’ coach.

If you ask Pike he will just say something like... sometimes shots go in sometimes they don't. I don't worry about that kind of stuff. Caleb is the reigning DPOY in this conference and I think nationally as well. He does so much for this team etc etc

He’s not a thug come on. At worst he has some emotional control problems at the end of games. A trait he shares with most of this board.
True. I had to watch the clip several times before I could definitely see it. He just played like crap and was completely frustrated when he did it. Reminded me a little of Mickelson kicking at the ball when he played like crap that one time in the US Open out on LI.

Quick apology, maybe sit until the first stoppage (still think that's a little extreme for this). Not a big deal and not a reflection of his overall character. Some of the drama queens on this board, geez.

Where did I make him out to be a saint? And yes, fans traditionally dislike gritty players on opposing teams. Does that make the player a bad person? No. Ridiculous point from our resident Board Contrarian/Curmudgeon.

Gritty isn't the right term here, Pete. Not even close. If you think that's who Paul is, you are out of touch. Get it right. I'll leave it at that.

Probably time to put a cork in this thread guys. Paul had a lapse in judgement. Paul is also a guy who bleeds scarlet, loves this program, and has provided us some great moments. Let’s move on.
Agree. I'm done with it.

This ends once the Illinois game starts and PM decides to play smart, gritty basketball that impacts RU winning a game. If this spirals into another subpar, passive 1st half, which leads to another double figure deficit, then what are fans supposed to do, just accept it as PM being PM??

PM is playing starting minutes and needs to contribute for his time on the court to being a senior leader and captain. If he struggles again for another game and puts up another sloppy game with very few shot attempts, points and playmaking, we then ride this out??? Or do we start to figure out other lineups, that give us a better chance to win??

The games and recruiting future Scarlet Knights are the primary focus 80% of the time on the board. A productive player with 13 Pts, 6 assists and 4 to 5 rebounds isn't going to register as a big deal for me, if you add the trip into the equation.....I would accept and probably relish into the chippy or bush-league act, with a productive game as the standard......the bottom line is for RU, to play better basketball as the solution.

Wow, I'm late to this party. Paul is my favorite player on the team, and one of my favorites of all time. I listed him 2nd behind Rashod Kent on a previous thread. That said, the one thing that bothers me is how whiny/chippy he can get. It normally doesn't rise to the level of dirty, but I've seen some questionable things over his career.

Hahah. I run a very new Rutgers basketball podcast on YouTube, and I have by far the most plays I've ever had on my recap of the Indiana game. Their internet presence and craziness is wild. Plenty of cool fans too though. But def a crazy bunch obsessing over this.

This thread isn’t about Paul’s performance or production. It’s about the trip. Which, in my opinion, has been beaten to death at this point.

But you never miss an opportunity to divert the subject so you can go on a long rant — often about Paul. But for all those words, you usually don’t talk about him winning the game at MSG or piling up 21 assists in a two game stretch.
