IMO Cliff's worst game of the year. Poor defense, few rebounds and forced shots outside his comfort zone. He and Caleb both forced their offense and didn't let the game come to them.

Yeah he doesn't box out on defense many of his rebounds are just pure athleticism and TJD is very athletic so that is not going to work against him and it didn't last night and of course his defense was also terrible
This times 1000....he just tries to outjump everyone and that is not part of the fundamentals he needs to work on. The other thing is that a big athletic guy who can dribble/create like TJD is Cliff's weakness. Watching last night he was playing off of him when he would get the ball at the top of the key and TJD has good handle and amazing footwork that it was very easy to create shots going around CO. He needs to play up on him more out that far and use his body

I don't think it's anything to worry about. Cliff usually gets double-digit rebounds, but he was going up against possibly the best center in the country (yes, I think he is better than Purdue's). Cliff will get back to his double-doubles next game...

Cliff needs to tack on another 15-20lbs. Looks weak sometimes...
it's not like he has outside game so he mind as well work on inside game more.
Tack on more lbs, so he can really be a force and can stand his ground
work on jumpers from 10-15ft. (never ever take 3pts again)

Everyone was flat last night, reminiscent of the Seton Hall game. Cliff has never boxed out well, and without Mag's help on the boards it was easy to key on Cliff. When he did get the ball he was ten from the basket, which is the kiss of death for his game--he's a finesse/athletic center, but not a power center so has trouble backing down strong guys like TJD. Add to Mag's absence that Caleb was shooting from Argentina so wasn't crashing the boards much, along with Paul being listless, all of which made it easy for IU to keep Cliff off the boards. Reiber got torched on a followup dunk by TJD because he didn't box out TJD when he missed a shot in the lane, Woolf is still too raw as a frosh and got posterized in the first half, but that's gonna happen against an NBA talent like TJD.

Our issue moving forward is replacing Mag's disruptive energy on D, his much bigger role in the offense, and his presence on the boards. The crazy thing about last night is that we played about as ****** as we could and still lost to the #16 team in their building by just 6.

We actually had more offensive rebounds then Indy last night. And the overall numbers were pretty close(36-30 in favor of Indy I think).

Yes TJD had a ton of rebounds, while Cliff did not, but you have to factor in the team numbers into the equation.

He played soft and had plenty of butter finger moments. Also i do not want to see him launch a 3 again unless were up 10+. lol.

Omoruyi has to know where his spots are. If he gets pushed out off his spot and catches the pass 15 feet from the basket, he can't start his offense from there - he needs to try to give up the ball and try to get better position. A few times TJD managed to move him off his spot as he got the pass (or just before), and Omoruyi ended up trying to force something working from too far out or finding himself too deep under the basket.

Indiana did a good job not letting him get the ball where he wanted it.

I don’t think he is weak but on both offense and defense he lets the other team dictate his positioning. On offense he will let his defender push him far away from the basket where he is ineffective, and on defense he lets other centers back him down instead of holding his position.

Exactly. Didn’t think game was won or loss on rebounds. TJD is very good and as good a game as he had thought that no answer to Kopp was the real difference.

I think Cliff lacks some lower body strength since he does seem to struggle to hold post position and get pushed out

That may be true but many RU fans will argue since he is such a good athlete he doesn’t get the calls he deserves and which are so often called against RU.

Who leads the team in rebounds? Cliff is asked to do a lot on D. Hard to box out and rebound when you are asked to hedge against PNR.
