Mag is a unique and terrific player. He is the least important of our 5 starters. I wish he was not hurt. I hate for his and for his teammates sake that he is hurt.Zach Edey is a unique basketball player because he's 7'4.....there is ZERO correlation to Edey and TJD.....as is none whatsoever.
If you want to make the excuse that Mag is insurmountable and RU is doomed, go for it. I don't buy it, the stats don't support that logic and the roster has multiple pieces and players that can mix and match at that position.
I will ask the same question that I asked in the other thread. Are you saying you would rather have Mag over any of the other 4 starters for the rest of the season?? If you are saying "I'm not going that far OR NO, I wouldn't say that", then we can have a logical discussion of team performance with and without Mag....
That means moving the ball, offense, passing, shooting, rebounding, defense etc.
I don't believe Mag is the only player on the roster that does what he does well. There is going to be a dropoff on defense....yes I am acknowledging there will be "some dropoff".
But I am also saying getting Simpson and Hyatt more minutes isn't exactly the worse solution in the world, for a team that needs shooting, scoring and some individual "go make a play", once in awhile.
Nice spinNo, an honest reality that I hope doesn't happen. But I
expect the real losers are those who will attack the team if they lose. Are you that loser??
There’s also a possibility someone takes advantage of the opportunity. There’s also a chance of chunk of the scoreboard falls down again. There’s a chance TJD gets hurt. Lots of things might happen. That’s why I watch the games and don’t worry about 5 mins of not scoring or other things in isolation.Over the top?? How?? Responding to the possibility of losing games in his absence. I'd say responding to dopes attacking is not o.ver the top .
I'd say a delusional mentality if you think losing Mag will not affect the team significantly--hey, just read and listen to the team /Pikes comments about Mag -they're not losers but understand his significance for winning. And I've never said I don't hope others step up and we avoid losses but it will be really sad when and if the usual subjects attack the team if we lose --they're the losers.Yup. Gives others a chance to step up. 3 weeks ago, many were questioning g him starting. Too much drama. Let’s go.
More of the unsung hero IMO as he rarely gets the attention he deserves.MVP in my opinion
Of course it affects the team..such is life. Nothing you can do about it. And I never said you said you don’t hope others step up…lol. The point is nothing is changing Mag’s status. We can feel sorry for ourselves all we want but I’m sure the team is spending that energy trying to make up for the loss. This team completely outplayed MSU without Mag in the 2nd half….small sample size and I’m not suggesting we are better without him. Mag has been incredible the last 3 weeks (before that, not so much) but he’s not irreplaceable. Lack of depth will be the bigger problem moving forward. Time to focus on what we can control.I'd say a delusional mentality if you think losing Mag will not affect the team significantly--hey, just read and listen to the team /Pikes comments about Mag -they're not losers but understand his significance for winning. First- this really sucks for Mags...I predict at least 8 losses in Rutgers games for the rest of the regular season.
Relatedly, I predict no more than 8 losses in Rutgers games for the rest of the regular season.
Couldn’t have said it better. Really feel horrible for him. But there’s an opportunity right there for those other guys. They need to grab it.Feel so bad for Mawot and all he has endured. His loss will be felt big time on the court at both ends. Now it’s time for Hyatt / Dean / Wolf / Oskar to take the bull by the horns and contribute to the max.

Well, you need to read my post more carefullyFirst- this really sucks for Mags...
Now, my question...if Mags were playing- how many future losses did you have us down for?
You are insanely undervaluing TJD. Indiana would be soooo much worse without himZach Edey is a unique basketball player because he's 7'4.....there is ZERO correlation to Edey and TJD.....as is none whatsoever.

Crazy stat that TJD had never fouled out of a game until this year’s game at the RAC. He rarely gets into foul trouble.I don't look at everything as an individual stat game or evaluation. Indiana is going to get evaluated based on the entire season or body of work.
Mike Woodson has 2 5 star guards before Xavier Johnson broke his foot, sitting on the bench. Why is Indiana solely reliant or needing TJD to have a big game in order to win??
If TJD gets in foul trouble dealing with Cliff, can Indiana win. I don't know right now, if the Mag injury does to the overall defensive ratings until I see what the coaches and players do to adjust their games and roles within the team concept.
It would be disappointing for RU fans to build in reasons or excuses for anything. I have not changed my bullish view of RU basketball at all. I am expecting good defense and better offense in time, because of this injury. I believe in the long run, RU will be more dangerous and explosive come March.
like when you comment in the game threadAgree...cant believe the defeatist talk thread after thread...oh woe is me
This board is starting to act like losers...game tonight and slitting their wrists and taking positive vibes away
Well he’s not more important than cliff Paul or CalebNot bad for the “easiest of the five starters to replace” {SARCASM}
Sucks to lose him but injuries are apart of sports unfortunately. Every team has themIn Big Ten games, Rutgers allows 14.3 more points per 100 possessions when Mag is off the court
Three-point shooting percentage (+9.4%)
Mid-range two-point percentage (+6.6)
Offensive rebounding percentage (+9.3%)
In B1G play, Mag ranks fourth in the Big Ten in both defensive rating and defensive box plus-minus, per Bart Torvik
Bac is arguably the biggest overreacting defeatist on the board in game threadslike when you comment in the game thread

based on the response- I get it know but reading your post carefully, I assume you meant to have the 'ed' on your first predict.Well, you need to read my post more carefully
I’ll give you a hint: we could start the Boston Celtics or 5 posters from this board and my prediction would remain the same.
