Might catch Myles, but Eddie is safe. Has there ever been a big man more proficient at steals than Rashod? Every entry pass was ripe for the picking.
The dude just could muscle guys so far off their spot in the post that the entry pass was always a risk for the other team. I’ll say it for the 100th time: if only the guy could’ve hit about 65 percent of his FTs to keep the other team honest.

Kent should have had more. How many times did he cleanly step around the man posting him up to intercept the entry pass, just to get called because the referee could not believe he was that quick?

No one comes close to Eddie Jordan on steals. Steals were typically not even counted in his first couple of years. He averaged about 3.2 steals a game over his third and fourth years when they were counted. The only exception is probably Mike Dabney. Steals were only counted in his senior year, and he averaged 3.3 per game.

That said, McConnell should repeat as the Big 10 defensive player of the year – – it’s not just about steals. He gets them with the very best, but the other aspects of his defense are just as impressive.

Not typically counted? What does that mean? Some games they counted steals and others they didn't? Lol

You ought to be a little more reserved with your “lol“ because you don’t know what the hell you are talking about. Steals were not an official NCAA statistic until 1985–1986. The individual schools kept them when they wanted to. RU begin to record steals every game for the 75–76 season. Mike Dabney holds the single-season record at 111 for that season. Do you really think he did not have the 33 additional steals needed during the rest of his career to get into the RU career top 10 at 144? Jordan is credited with 198 steals His last two seasons. Do you really think he averaged 11 in his first two seasons? Lol!

Lol calm down

So I guess the answer to my question was yes. Very strange they "kept them when they wanted to". Why would teams start to keep the stat but not continue to from that point on? Odd to say the least

Don't get an old-time NBA fan started on Bill Russell and blocked shots. In most games Russell had more blocks than points if you listen to the right old Celtics fan.

Some stats weren’t thought about much back in the day. I remember hearing Willie Mays say(Paraphrasing) if he knew being in the 30/30 and 40/40 club (HomeRuns/Stolen Bases) would be such a big deal he would have done it more.
