Can people finally STFU about MSG now?

By this game being considered a home game, it holds as much weight as a win at the RAC, so unless the committee takes into account “home games that aren’t really home games,” todays win doesn’t do jack **** for the argument we can or can’t win away from the RAC when it comes time to seeding in the NCAA tournament

Stop! Lol. This counts as a home game for NET purposes only…which is a computer generated ranking.

Every human on the committee knows that this win proves we can win away from the RAC…especially after beating #1 Purdue away from the RAC.

Exactly. And we almost lost. SMH. Never give away home court.

Even if it works out well for us?
Law of averages. Don't take away the inherent advantage that comes with the RAC, our home court. Why forfeit that? Makes no sense. MSG/NYC is good for the conference. But the conference had an opportunity to give us a full share early on, and they squeezed us. So eff 'em. "With a 'red hot' poker...."

Do they take that into account though? When it comes time for seeding and it’s between us and another team for a higher seed, will they say well Rutgers has a home win that was actually away from their home arena? I don’t know. I personally don’t care where we win, I just don’t want this to screw us later.

That's a pretty naive view, every freaking body including the committee knows it was played at MSG.

Just like RU will get credit from the committee over the stolen OSU game when it comes to seeding.

But believe what you would like. Today was a good day that should be celebrated and we got num nuts in here still trying to pour cold water on it.

I’m thrilled we won, took the train there and, taking it back feels much sweeter after a W. I don’t know what the committee’s mindset is. Just commenting my thoughts. Always hoping for the best for the team.

Glorious
I’m down with that.👍

Those guys or another NYC team (Fordham, Manhattan, Iona) every year. With them as a home team.

Maybe a holiday tournament (with some bigger names) too?

Your thoughts are inaccurate. The committee knows this wasn’t a “home” game per se and will take that into account. I can almost guarantee that

A bunch of small minded people. Think of the bigger picture. This is great for recruiting. This is great for the perception of the program. Seeing our fans take over the Garden and win a game against a blue blood program and hall of fame coach. Maybe one of our alumni who doesn't normally go to games and has money winds up going to this one and is turned on to donate. These games are so valuable PR wise especially the way we performed today as a team and fan base.

“Maybe Rutgers is New York’s Big Ten team after all. I know this, Northwestern — “Chicago’s Big Ten team” or something — could never come close to putting as many fans in the United Center as Rutgers did Saturday at Madison Square Garden. The place was close to packed and mostly in red.

Playing off campus at MSG instead of in Piscataway ... was certainly to MSU’s advantage. There were a couple thousand Spartan faithful in the building and you could see and hear them. But when Rutgers got rolling for a bit in the second half, the Garden was theirs. It felt as loud as any Big Ten home arena.” -- Lansing State Journal columnist Graham Couch.

I think I may be in the minority but I am feeling good about making the tourney at this point and more interested in success once we get there. I'll take a game at MSG as prep for both upcoming tournies.

Also agree that with the win, it is great for the committee and for marginal recruiting.

I would sign up for a game at MSG every February!

we were not on the road, you are trying to say this counts as road game

I’m not trying to say this at all. Lol.

A poster said this win does nothing to the argument we can or can’t win away from the RAC cause it’s a “home game”. The committee knows it wasn’t technically a “home” game.

You really think the committee is tracking every resume nuance of every team? You think they know this should be a Q1 win instead of a Q2 win?

I don’t think the committee is so hell bent on Q1 or Q2 wins. Q1 and Q2 are really only meaningful in NET ranking.

Which is just one of a lot of things the committee takes into account.

Just admit you're sad we won the game. You know you couldn't wait to start typing terrible things about this decision and how right you were if we had lost. You being right was more important than Rutgers winning for you. And you were sooo wrong.
Doesn’t really seem like his posting would change much either way tbh

This, except exactly the opposite. Quads don’t affect the net ranking. They are defined based on the net ranking to help the committee.

The reason was It was great
Your opinion is based off of the result of the game. If we had lost or got our doors blown off, you'd likely feel differently. Unless you just want to say Rutgers played a game at MSG and you were there.

From the perspective of someone that lives out of state and doesn't get to go to all the games, the viewing experience on TV was a major downgrade from the RAC.

It did not seem like an RU home game, but more like an NCAA tournament game (with close proximity to NJ).

There were multiple moments in the game where the RAC would have been an absolute kill shot to State, but due to it being at MSG, it wasn't. It allowed them to hang around longer in the 2nd half than they should have IMO.

To each their own though. B1G could easily schedule a NYC showdown with Rutgers and Duke or UNC or Gonzaga or Kentucky and it would be just as big.

That's a sweet admission by the MSU beat writer. Yes. But no way would MSU put anywhere near that number of their fans in the RAC. We'd have a 200:1 advantage. It'd be an overwhelmingly oppressive environment in the RAC. And we need to exploit every advantage. At every opportunity.

respectfully, I disagree with just about everything

it was a showcase game in the heart of NYC..... we played in front of a crowd that continually shocks many others, who think we might not travel......certainly because of the start time

BECAUSE we won, it was BETTER than playing at the RAC...because we won where we did give up SOME of our home advantage, not all

one of the security people was constantly in my area, and he seemed a bit shocked at what was happening, with our fans and enthusiasm,.....obviously a New Yorker.

It’s ridiculous. So close to a nightmare that doesn’t happen at home.
did you ever consider the possibility that RU might have lost at the RAC?..

nothing is guaranteed in life, and in basketball....

Mich state might have played better than at the garden, and we could possibly not have

you seem to assume so much, but not consider that

I suppose I just don't think we necessarily need approval from NYC in any way. I couldn't care less if a New Yorker knows we're good or not (recruits aside, obviously).

Anyone that's shocked about RU fans traveling to see winning teams is oblivious. RU has always traveled well.

We gave up some of our home advantage and got nothing in return. There's literally no benefit to it. Perhaps I'll feel differently if it's marked as a neutral site game, but as of right now it's a home game.

I thought so.

Maybe that's a FOX issue, but I also didn't think the in game production sounded as good.

For me, there's something different about the RAC. Big plays happen and you can barely hear yourself think even through the TV. The announcer at the RAC. The immediate turnover on the other end. It's just different.

It's like opponents needs to survive a series of daggers from all angles to pull out a win. This just didn't have that feeling to it (IMO).

With that said, I did think the crowd was great. You could hear RU chants, lets go Rutgers chants, etc.

thats fine, we can disagree.... I just thought the whole experience of being there, in front of 15,000 fans
was well worth it.....

we can always play at the RAC... playing and winning at the garden is different.....and was really nice.

try to be happy, it wasn't so bad.....trust me, it was very nice
