I’m not sure why everyone says Minnesota is “awful”. Yes they are number 14 in the league, but I’ve seen them a couple of times and they are not a pushover …they are like pike’s early teams which can compete in 50-60% of big ten games and will bite someone in the rear who comes not ready to play (see our game there last year )….

If we come to play…we will most like win and likely in convincing manner

A no show means a dog fight when we really could use an easier game

Any word if Dawson Garcia is out still with his ankle issue? Missed last two games.

Really hard to call 4 home games must wins in the big 10. I think an 8-2 home record should always be the goal, but 7-3 is acceptable (and probably expected). It’s college basketball, crazy stuff happens all the time.

So we have 4 home wins now. We need to win the next 4 true home games if you take MSU out of the equation

I get it but losing to any of Michigan, Northwestern, Minnesota or Nebraska at the RAC will be extremely disappointing.

I think best case scenario is something like the PSU game....a tough battle that we eventually pull away late. We just don't have the scorers to run people out of the gym unless we're playing down a level.

Don’t forget Nebraska & Northwestern games a few years back, when RU needed a giant comeback (& Geo) against a heavy road underdog..
Get out early in this one, and never look back..

2 things happen tomorrow night IMHO:

- Cam hits and early 3 and we roll
- we still struggle from behind the arc and we still win

....plus there are going to be some celebs in da' hizzie!!! :WooHoo:

Wondering the same. Appears to be day to day at this point. He is their best offensive player and gives them a shot if he can go. I think RU wins either way but the Gophers will be more formidable with him. In the lineup.

And yes this is a must win game for RU.

a depleted Minnesota beat Rutgers and their vaunted duo of Geo/Ron

An absurdly bad loss for Pikiell, one of his worst ever given our talent situation dwarfed them. The Gophers lit it up from 3 and our season leaders were totally AWOL in big spots.

So no game is a given, good lord people are already annexing a win over Michigan already. RU will have to come out and show no comfort to Minnesota. If they establish the RAC early and play their D this game is over perhaps by halftime and its a comfortable win. If not then we squirm in our seats as a spirited by awful Gopher team keeps it to 6-10 most of the game putting pressure on our sketchy offense to make shots.

That was a once-in-a-decade type of game. Let’s be honest. They were hitting shots blindfolded on acid behind their backs. Never seen anything like it.

This is Rider or UMASS Lowell.

If we bring the heat 20+ point win. They only have a few people on their roster that shoot 3s.

Not to say you can't lose it, but if you want to get to 12 big ten wins and have a shot at a double bye, and if you're really hoping to get above a 7 seed, you absolutely cannot give away a quad 4 home game. Let's take care of business!!
I hear you but every game is a big pressure game, especially in the big ten. You can’t treat games differently or else you lose your edge. Every game needs 100% energy/focus/preparation.

Gophers are awful------RU will have no trouble in this one.

I sure hope the players aren't thinking either of those ways about this game. 🙂

@bac2therac i know, I know but live and learn. That was also a Sat 11AM start on the road, gym was empty most of the 1st half, and we had just beaten Iowa at home.

im just sayin...never just think wins are automatic...this teams seems different but still has many players from last years debacle
I agree.

Even the best teams lose some games they should, on paper, win. Purdue lost to us, for example.

Rarely makes sense to underestimate an opponent in any kind of competition. From a player standpoint, it's a great way to lose a game you should win. From a fans standpoint, it's a great way to set oneself up for frustration.

Okay Captain Obvious….but WE ARE FANS, aka “FANatics,” so it’s okay!!! I promise WE don’t make one iota of a difference when speculating on message boards lol!

Apparently my point wasn't all that obvious because you aren't getting it. I addressed a fan's perspective in my prior post. I'll say it a bit differently...

A fan gains nothing whatsoever by forming an expectation about winning. It's a valueless proposition, unless that fan is betting on the game. It merely sets up the fan for even greater disappointment if the team loses.

Being fanatical about a team one roots for doesn't mean one has to abandon logic and common sense. Low expectations, at least for stuff outside one's control, is a critical factor in always being happy.
