Really believe that this is brilliant by both conferences to showcase their teams 6 weeks away from the tourney on big tv stages and to get familiar with other styles of play.We could see 5-6 of these teams in the Sweet 16.Alabama should show off and Kentucky-Kansas go down to the wire.I am doing Yale -Princeton on the radio tonight and that rematch of the Ivy final should be a barn burner. Yale is a slight favorite over an excellent Tiger team.

It looks like Pat Kelsey will be the next ND coach.

As to Harper and again,it is not an NIL decision ultimately and Ace Bailey is a boost to the Rutgers chances with Harper.

If the PAC12 wasn't so bitter about USC/USC a B1G/Pac12 would be nice... Or maybe B1G/ACC to prep for upcoming B1G entrants :)

Yeah there are lots of good games in that Big 12/SEC Challenge.

Don't we already do a challenge with the ACC in December? I believe our Wake game this year was a part of that.

Given that the Big Ten has so few teams in the Top 25-30 rankings, perhaps a mid conference season challenge would be helpful in raising the profile of the conference schools. However, I am very much enjoying the conference only portion of our schedule, even on nights when RU is not playing, given the parity amongst the 11 teams not named, Purdue, Minnesota and Nebraska. It is wide open.

a think Miami was part of the challenge and Wake is a home and away series

Stevenson having himself a game vs Auburn. Wow
Did you hear him prematurely yell “ballgame” as his last free throw rimmed out so wvu was only up 3 before auburn’s final possession? I rewound it a couple times and I’m pretty certain it was him lol.

Hope Notre Dinero doesn’t end up with egg on their face like UMass did when Kelsey reneged on the Minutemen 25 minutes before his introduction as their new coach,

Big day for the Big 12's chances at a 7th or 8th bid with West Virginia and Oklahoma winning.

It would be great for WVU and OU, but to use your words in this situation, work is still to be done. The top half of the Big 12 will likely continue to beat both teams like a drum.

Yep this win is huge feather in their cap worth 2-3 wins but they will still need more quality wins second half of the year and they are struggling in conference play

What a gutless performance by Alabama

93-69 final and it wasn't even that close

Let’s keep at least some perspective. #15 Iowa state did lose by double digits to middle of the pack Missouri.
And TCU down 11 early to bottom feeder miss st.

People are quick to call out the B1G, but the SEC...

20 B1G games are enough. No need to play other conferences once conference play begins.
Agree. I don’t see the need to play a conference challenge once conference play starts. In November and December, Im all for it. Given no ACC challenge anymore , only conference challenge this will occur against with will be Big East and or Pac 12 given affiliation with Fox I would think.

Well the bottom 4 in the Big 12 , Wvu beat a ranked Auburn although at home withstanding a comeback by Auburn. Oklahoma State destroyed Ole Miss also at home by 22; Oklahoma humbles # 2 Alabama by 23 , which had 30 point leads ; also at home. ; and bottom feeder Texas Tech beat a struggling LSU team on the road by 8. Those are the bottom 4 who beat 2 ranked teams and 2 bottom of the middle SEC teams. So that means the BiG 12 should get 7 or maybe 8 teams as the best conference.
Now the SEC had some nice wins , Tennessee at home against Texas and Missouri beating Iowa state by 18 at home and Mississippi State beating TCU by 3 at home so they beat 3 top 12 teams.
Now Kansas beat Kentucky on the road after losing 3 games in a row and Kentucky winning 4 in a row and Kansas State killed Florida at home so 2 top 10 teams beat unranked teams.
Overall , the BiG 12 showed more than the games that were won because of home court. They are the best conference and will get 8 teams in the dance

Disagree this year. The conference is so far above all the others and a distant first place above second place BIG 10 which has teams losing steam everyday, Ohio State , Wisconsin . It was Big 10 , 11 teams 2 weeks ago, then 10 teams a week ago , 9 teams on Friday , now down to 8 teams. Those slots are going to the survivors of WVU , Okla State and Oklahoma even if they finish 1 game over 500.

By the way , this new Temple team has a decent chance to make the dance.
Temple has a 0.0% chance at an at-large bid. Their only route to the tournament is winning the AAC tournament. Which is, I suppose, possible. But extremely unlikely.

17-16 will not get them in

Better resumes recently from the Big 12 with those records failed to get in.

They just beat the #1 and # 2 team in the ASC in the road , including the #1 team in the country. They have at least 3 new players that did not play against us and just got Reynolds their center back 2 games ago. They have about 10 games left . They will continue to improve in the NET. If they go on a 10 game winning streak , they are at 4 so far., I give them better than a 0 chance. I will be rooting for them.

This is a different year. The Big 12 is so ahead of other conferences which hasn’t happened in the last at least 10 years since the ACC was dominant. Wvu is 13-8 and OKla and OKla State are 12-9. Where are getting 17-16 from those 3 ?

They've been playing well for sure. If they extend their current 4 game winning streak out to 10, including beating Houston again and winning at Memphis and Cincy then, you know, sure I'll reevaluate. But that's just vanishingly unlikely to happen.

They seem to be a pretty good road team so Memphis and Cincy should not be too daunting and they get Houston at home. A sweep of Houston would be very interesting.

You're so right , only gives you opportunity to lose more games and if you're on road to ncaas it hurts and basically
helps those on bubble. May be fun for TV audience but disaster for others on top of your 20 league schedule.

Are they suddenly going to start beating the schools they havent been beating in conference play. Will they go better than 4-6? There is a decent shot one of them does get 3 games above 500 but all have alot of work to do

Agreed, but this seems to be a really bad year for mid-majors. There may be more spots open this year. Charleston lost another one yesterday too.

Pitt winning is helping WVU. with a loss count of only 8, they seem to be in a very good spot now for the 7th spot in my opinion with the Auburn and TCU wins. I could see them winning out in Morgantown which would get them to 18 wins and lock them into the field, but if not, they’d have the best chance of B12 bubblers of getting in with only 17 wins.

The path for the 8th team would involve 5-5 the rest of the way to get to 17-14 - then an outbracket win which would get them to 18-15 with a legit chance. The performance in the SEC tourney has made this possible now though far from a sure thing. Okie State and Oklahoma would have a harder time getting in with only 17 wins because they took several losses to mediocre teams in non-conference play.

One of them beat the #2 team in the country in a blowout. What makes you think they will not win against the top. ? Alabama is as good as any BIG 12 team , no?

because they are currently 2-6 with 10 game left and they are 0-6 vs Big 12 teams with a pulse. Could this win turn things around for them..maybe but far from a certainity

everyone has 10-11 games to play, the resumes on woefully incomplete
