Probably the actual segment on BTN will be longer. Tonight at 6pm

Steve Pikiell couldn't give away tickets when he became Rutgers Men's Basketball coach.
It only took him a few years to turn things around, and create one of the best atmospheres in college basketball.

It's the full segment. There are also features on Kris Murray and Jahmir Young, and cinematic highlights for Young and Maryland's win over Michigan.

Rutgers got the cinematic highlight treatment last episode with the feature on Cliff:

KInda choked me up too. Great piece on a great guy.

An excellent feature on Coach. He has been everything that we could have asked for in a coach.

Best of Luck,
Groz

[patk89]

Just awesome.

What’s not to like? Pike is the consummate classy college coach. Glad to have him with us.

Nobody better than this guy.

I’ll be watching

Pause the video during the practice segment and you can read a lot of the drills planned for that one, down to the minute. I saw rebounding. I did not see naked FT contest.

Coach will never embarrass or program or university. We got a good one. Go get that double bye again! I want a good seed and the Sweet 16!

The only time I "spoke" to Coach was a few days after Ashnault and Suriano won their NCAA Wrestling Championships a few years ago. A small crowd had gathered for a poorly-advertised Ringing of the Bells at Old Queens ceremony for the two newly crowned national champs. The crowd was just kind of milling around waiting for the ceremony to start and I said something to another fellow about how the basketball team had also been improving, too. I said something like the basketball Coach should have these two wrestlers talk to the basketball team about their self- confidence and what it takes to win championships at Rutgers. Well, standing right behind us was Coach Pike. I was sure he heard our discussion. All he said to us was how great it was for the school to have two great athletes succeed at RU. He didn't say anything to me about my dumb comments lol. He was just there because it was a great day for Rutgers. He didn't impose on Coach Goodale or the wrestlers' comments. He just stood off to the side with the rest of us and he was proud of these wrestlers...like the rest of us. He spoke to fans only when someone spoke to him. What a genuine, great guy...and what a great coach. Could NEVER hope for anything but the best for him. I hope he stays here forever. GO RU!

Lifetime contract, dude is pure class and reflects well on the University.

I doubt RU could uphold it's end of it. Somehow the admin could find a way to screw it up

[FrankZ_RU93]

Thank you Pike

[Perricone7]

To me personally, this is what it’s all about. I love the climb. I’ll take this over being an Ohio state football fan any day of the week. Pike was the perfect man for the job.

[Knight Shift]

Winning is not the only thing. Winning with class, dignity and humility is everything.

[Rutgers25]

Lucky to have an amazing coach. I remember texting my buddies year 1 saying that this guy was going to get it done. You could just see the difference right away. Playing hard, doing the little things, playing for each other, etc.

Coach will never embarrass or program or university.

Always good to have a coach smart enough not to write that one down

[MiloTalon13]

Rebounding? Nice to know Pike has that in his package.

Awesome stuff
