Temple - injuries

Miami - injuries

Ohio state - refs (legit)

Seton hall - letdown from Ohio state

Iowa - they made too many threes. Fluke!

Michigan state - they made too many threes and we missed too many. Another fluke!

Does the board think the northwestern win was a fluke because cam went 6-7 from three? Surely they do. You guys sound just as bad as the Indiana board after we smoked them.

Haha. To be fair - I would assume every fan base is like this. Not just us and Indiana.
No team has ever been beaten in a game.
Every game the losing team beat themselves or it was an off court issue (refs, injuries, luck).

It's like Shawshank. Everyone's innocent.
Red is the only guilty man in Shawshank.

Variance is not the same as a fluke. It's not a fluke that sometimes teams will be hot and sometimes they will be cold, it is life.

If you normalize the 3-point shooting yes we lose to Northwestern and win against Michigan State. You should acknowledge this when analyzing the Northwestern game just as you do when you analyze the Michigan State game.

If a Northwestern fan wants to say they only lost that game to us because we were unusually hot from three.. they will be right! You think that's a gotcha but it's just true

We ran a beautiful play to get Cam that look to win the game against Northwestern.. he's still going to miss it at least 55% of the time.

Temple injuries is a legit excuse IMO. I mean even without Paul/Caleb we should beat Temple and I believe we would today but Simpson was thrown into the fire very early and did poorly. It is what it is.

Miami - I mean obviously we are a worse team with Paul out. Not sure that's an excuse it's just reality. Doesn't mean we couldn't have won without him or lost with him, it just means we aren't as likely to win if we don't have him.

Ohio St. - Even with the missed call that guy made a heave, there are missed calls throughout every game than can cause 3 point swings, I don't think our strategy down the stretch was that good. Even with the ref screw job I blame us for losing this one more than some of the others honestly

SHU - Letdown.. it might be true, no idea, but it's not an excuse. Terrible performance on offense. I don't really buy the letdown thing tbh given how good the defense was.

Iowa - yes (though fluke is the wrong word). Also Iowa is good and we came out pretty flat IMO

MSU - yes (though fluke is the wrong word). It's just variance.

You’ve been embarrassing yourself here the past 24 hours buddy. Just nonsensical rant after nonsensical rant, so I’d be careful throwing around that idiot word. You clearly don’t handle losing well at all and will seek out any excuse you can. Just a very simple person 😂
You are an average troll at best.

"Excuses" or "Key Factors"? It's not just the losses that have simple things that impact the outcome.

@MSU - L - We were very cold from 3, they were very hot from 3
OSU - W - Key was not 100%, McNeil and Key foul trouble late
@NW - W - We were very hot from 3P
Iowa - L - We were below average from 3, they were hot from 3
MD - W - 18 turnovers for MD, and we were above average from 3
@Purdue - W - We were very hot from 3P, Edey picked up 2 early fouls
Wake - W - We were 25/34 (.735) from 2P, they were 9/24 (.375)
SHU - L - Got out-toughed, some OSU hangover
@OSU - L - Blown call
Indiana - W - It's Indiana
@Miami - L - No Mulcahy, Spencer cold
Temple - L - No Mulcahy or McConnell

There was zero surprise that we came up short at a venue that has yet to produce a
a victory for RU. They were within a whisker of becoming only the 2nd team to beat
Purdue, who may very well be the best team in the country. A hall of fame coach had
them prepared for this game. Let's see if we can return the favor next month

Do you believe that outside forces (extrinsic) & laws of probability are predominantly responsible for an entire team playing so poorly or that something more intrinsic is responsible & that this team has a margin of error so very thin that it's path to victory means holding other teams to under 59 points & hoping that Cam gets a good night's sleep & a deep tissue massage before every game since we live & die with him offensively ? The eye test tells me RU defensively was "just OK" & that we have cause for worry going forward. Watching that BTN special about Iowa player C Street & how he refused to accept & overcame his poor foul shooting made me think - why can't we do the same with chippies. Is that too much to ask ?

"Excuses for losses" or "reasons for losses"?

When you win there are no "excuses for winning" but there are reasons.

In my eyes Ohio state is an obvious gripe and temple was timing. The other games you can’t argue because you’ll get some good luck and bad luck

This is stupidity. Obviously you expected an undefeated national championship this year.

What you call “excuses” I call reasons

I won’t address most of your nonsense but I’ll address the latest two losses

Iowa - I don’t think anyone was saying “Iowa made too many 3s” the repeated REASON i heard was that iowa had a good game plan and they outplayed us. That’s not an “excuse” those are the REASONS they won

MSU - they made shots/ we didn’t . That’s not an “excuse” - once again it’s one of the key REASONS they won

Sometimes the other team just wins. Some times there are REASONS (eg, missing one or two starters to injuries).

This post is just ridiculous

Did you feel a rumble last night that felt like an earthquake. I see there were other reports and anecdotes about something in trenton hunterdon Hillsborough facility. Somewhere around 9...it seemed like thunder but totally different

Not Choppin but I did here in Hunterdon county. There have been rumbles through the state like this for the last couple weeks. Rumbled for about a minute or so.

Meh. Troll thread based upon a particularly silly straw man. Troll rating: 1 of 10.

Why would any fan have cause to make excuses, or come up with reasons, for any loss by a team, in a game in which the fan took no part whatsoever? The fan cannot lose anything in that scenario.

Internet discussion forums are about discussing stuff. Intentionally mischaracterizing fan speculation or hypothesizing in internet forums as "making excuses" is very weak sauce.

Try harder, OP.

I heard a rumble, yes. But did not feel anything.

I assumed it was rolling thunder, although not really sure how that could've been given temperatures and all.

I didn't, but a neighbor asked me if I'd heard a loud boom last night. Didn't hear that, either. I may just be oblivious and not the best witness?

These types of posts after every loss are pathetic. We are not going to be undefeated and neither will any other team in the BIG 10 be unbeaten. The league is a beast and every team has good players and coaches. Many on hear forget where we have been for a long time and cannot enjoy the ride. We are one of the better teams in the country and should be so glad that Steve Pikiell has changed the entire outlook of our team but they just love to complain. Most of you have not been following RU for over 50 years like some of us have. I am thrilled with our team now and that they are a breath of fresh air. We are good and the future looks bright.

So you don't think missing Caleb and Paul, two starters and team leaders is a legitimate excuse for losing to Temple? Do you honestly think we lose that game if both are healthy? I don't think you can make a coherent argument that we do

Same for Miami. Do we blow a double digit lead down the stretch with Paul? I don't think we do

It works both ways though. If you normalize for shooting anomalies what is our record this season? I honestly have no idea. Maybe that stat nerds can tell us but it works both ways. Can't just blame the L's, have to look at the W's too
