OT: David Crosby Dead

Wow. I was amazed based on what I read about him that he made it to 81. I never saw the movie/documentary about him, but always wanted to. Did anyone here see it and what did you think? What a career. Sad, but his music and influence will live on.

A long life, but still sad. I understand that there were probably some trying times between the man and his friends and bandmates. But the art they made together was a beautiful thing. RIP.

A lot of CSN and CSN&Y was heard, and at times sung (badly, in my case), on many road trips with my (then) wife and (still mine, so far as I know) kids. Evokes some good memories.

Gonna have to do some listening tonight, after the MBB game. 🙁

One of the all time greats. Transcending generations. Again get used it we are losing our favorite artists at a rapid pace as they age into their 70s and 80s

Musical legend and a little bit nutty, like many artists - lived a hard full life and made some incredible music with the Byrds and CSN (and sometimes Y)...

May he RIP. Imo he jumped the shark after the Byrds. Never liked CSNY. Teach your children well one of the most cringe worthy songs of all time.

Useless information: David Crosby's father Floyd Crosby was the
Cinematographer for the movie High Noon.
I guess the artiness( is that a word?) runs in the family.

Whoa fella.... Not to steer this off course, but no band has stacked harmonies like those orchestrated by Brian Wilson. Listen to "Pet Sounds."

Don't blame me but Suite:Judy Blue Eyes was the last song I played before going to the gym this afternoon.

WMCA's talk show host Leon Lewis used to play it at around 1:35 AM every night in 1969.

Boy this is a bad stretch here. It started about 4 or 5 years ago and is really getting bad now. My musical icons are leaving quickly and it’s going to get worse. The Byrds, CSN and CSNY among my favorites.

For which Crosby was a direct influence. Not disputing the value of "Pet Sounds", but the connection is worth recognizing.

So many artists credit CSN with helping them learn how to harmonize and sing better.

David Crosby is not one of the singers on the album release of Southern Cross. That was Timothy b Schmidt

Teach Your Children was cringe worthy, but also not written by Crosby. Written by Graham Nash.

Just listened to an extensive interview of Graham Nash yesterday on New Zealand's equivalent of NPR. I remember thinking, "Good heavens is this guy full of himself." One thing that he said was that there would never be another CSN reunion as he had a falling out with Crosby.

CSN and CSNY had some incredibly great songs. Teach Your Children was not one of them.

RIP.....loved CSN/CSNY.....he seemed to rub a lot of people the wrong way and burned a lot of bridges. Either way he was a legend, who lived HARD for many years and still made it to 81. Lot of health issues at the end, but still was making music - not a bad life.

Used to sit next to him at the bar having dinner He was a quiet, introspective guy. Never got to know him.
