I always thought Rome was a bit of a manipulator and tries to stir up controversy. With that, I think he tried to bait Pike with his question on Ace. I bet he had a smirk on his face when he said "I should have known not to ask that question"

Yeah but I didn’t care for his body language.

Haha to be fair I agree that sometimes Pike doesn't directly answer questions when he's amped up in the post game, but in this interview he was so moving when he spoke about the college experience he wanted for his guys. True class.

Rome asked about Ace forgetting Pike can't talk about it. Good move to just bring up Griffiths

What an ******* Jim Rome is for asking that question. And what a dishonest reaction by him to the answer.

Chris Evert? Yeah I was surprised that Jim Rome was still around. I never thought much of him but I’ll listen to the Pike interview.

I just think he got excited to talk about a five star and forgot that it wasn't allowed.

We'll never know if he honestly forgot that coaches can't comment on a verbal, but IF he knew Pike couldn't comment, I disagree with your take. Asking the question about Ace was a complete d*ck move!
You're way overthinking something that is minuscule in nature, even complimentary of our couch.

Two things:

- My opinion is he legitimately forgot that Pike can't talk about it.
- One of the first things I ever saw on YouTube was that snippet of Jim Everett attacking Rome. I knew at that very moment, that I was fully on board with the Internet age and modern technology. Being able to have my choice of videos of pretty much anything at my fingertips has been a major upgrade to having to watch whatever the TV channels wanted to broadcast.

Just an amusing thought - Imagine if Rome interviewed Mike Rice 10 years ago.
Rome: With us is Rutgers men's basketball coach Mike Rice, check that, Rut-Girls head coach.
Rice: If you call us Rut-Girls one more time...
Rome: Rut-Girls!
Mike Rice throws a basketball at Rome's head.

Rome cowers on the ground.

(seems like an appropritae addition to your narrative.)
