Almost went to see that.. on Saturday. But I predicted the cold weather (for FL) would delay it and it did.. moved it to Sunday. Had to be a beautiful sunset launch time.

Yep. There's likely no one else in the world who could have taken solid-state stability technology of the kind found in millions of Chinese-made toy drones and incorporated it into booster rockets.

We need to be intellectually honest, here. Yes, the visual is VERY cool and yes, it's something that we previously weren't doing with booster rockets, but... Elon and SpaceX did NOT develop the technology out of whole cloth. They did what any good technology organization does, which is integrate COTS engineering into a new use case.

And 7+ years after the first Falcon 9 booster landing, no other country or private launch company has even attempted a booster landing. What's everyone else waiting for? Slashing the cost of payload to orbit not important?

Most other countries don't use ancillary boosters. Most private launch vehicles don't, either.

I have a drone that takes off, flies and lands by itself. Made in China. 50 bucks on Amazon.

The technology is exactly the same.

Like I said, let us know when you become something more than a complete f*cking idiot.

Lester is one of the most miserable, abusive and bullying people in any forum I've seen
Don't get bamboozled with the technical jargon he sprinkles around as an excuse to be abusive to people.
People who grew-up being abused by authorities (who made them feel small) often try to be authorities themselves by compensation.
They can knock people down (as they were) as a way of feeling strong again (like young guys who beat seniors)
He knows some things but he often over-plays to ultimately just bloviate.
There's a cruelty behind the authoritarian manner

Thanks for posting - The most powerful rocket every built will be the next most amazing achievement for SpaceX. Still remember after the first launch all the skeptics saying "wait until Boeing gets in the game " - 17 years later we are still waiting.
Sounds a lot like todays skeptics talking about a certain car company??

I continue to be unexcited about chemical reaction rockets. They won't advance our goals. It shouldn't take 6 months to get to Mars.
