Awesome talent...although I'm not much of a fan of his work....too jazzy for my taste.
I do love his playing with Eric Clapton on the song " 'Cause We Ended As Lovers" on the album The Secret Policeman's Other Ball. One of the best ever.

"Come Dancing" is one of the best instrumental ever recorded. Little bit of jazz influence.

And did The Yardbirds produce guitarists. Somewhere in my storage room is a mono "Having A Rave Up" I bought in 7th or 8th grade

Oh damn. He was on my list to see. Now it will be in the great concert beyond. Was just looking at a picture of him with Johnny Depp, and thinking how much healthier Jeff Beck looked.

Beck was a huge talent. A lot of his later stuff wasn't my cup of tea, but he enjoyed what he did and he was truly great at it.

I’m not an afficienado of Jeff Beck but I did see Beck and Brian Wilson at the Wellmont about 10 years ago or so

Beck and Wilson s Band did an awesome rendition together of Surfs Up - one of my favorites from the aborted Smile album.

That's the only Beck album I own. I've played it exactly once in the last 40 years. I played it for my wife when we first started dating, she agreed that it was boring, and I've not played it since.

Usually, every week, I either watch a video with Jeff playing or read something about him. Someone mentioned how he used his pinky to work the volume knob, his ring & middle to work the tremolo bar and his thumb and index finger to pick the strings. Just amazing technique and spectacular sounds! RIP Jeff.

I saw him at the Capitol Theater in Passaic when John Scher used to do shows there. Must have been late 70's or maybe early 80's. Very enjoyable evening. Blow by Blow was a strong album. Didn't realize he was only with the Yardbirds for a year.

I think he and satriani are a nudge better. Loved Eddie but those two were just different in a better way imho

I agree. There is no overall “best” player ever. It’s all very subjective. Many great players in different genres and styles. Many aren’t even considering the great jazz and classical players. Players like Chet Atkins, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Charlie Christian, Allan Holdsworth, Andres Segovia, John McLaughlin, etc. the list goes on and on.

Absolutely. His name is rarely brought up, and it took my watching an Odd Couple episode to come to appreciate Roy Clark. We can celebrate all of the great players without designating anyone "the greatest."

There are certainly arguments about the best ever when it comes to guitarists, but there's a good chance that your favorite guitarist's favorite guitarist was Jeff Beck.
