Lol

2 out of 10 troll attempt
Dontestrond is not a troll. Big RU fan from the outside and in fact walks some RU fans off the ledge when a recruit is criticized.

Always enjoy your perspective. Keep it coming. Definitely believe what you’re saying. What program wouldn’t want Pike!? RU will come up big to keep that from happening.

Forgive me for not believing that an Alabama fan who seems interested in RU sports is talking to "heads" at Texas about their basketball coaching search.

If UConn came calling with Calhoun leading the charge, I would be worried. Texas pays for players and it’s a different life style. I see Musselman or even Hoiberg jumping. They fit the mold. Pike is a northeast guy and his work here is not over. I don’t see it happening. TROLL.
Texas is not hiring Hoiberg. Nebraska hasn’t done a ******** thing and UT fans are not going to invest in the nuanced argument that it would require to support him.

And all of you should wake up from this dream that Pike would never leave or that culture is supreme. Never underestimate the incredible influencing nature of money. If Texas wants Pike, money would be our only hope of keeping him. Anything else is delusional and childish. Pike needs to be paid accordingly. And he’s sure as hell earned a few piles of gold.

He may leave some day but he's not going to Texas. That's a terrible fit for him.

And I’m hoping they’re willing to pay Pikiell what he deserves. If we just paid $1.4 million for an OC I’m hoping they’re also willing to fork over big time money to keep Pikiell. Pikiell is at 4 mil per year and Beard at Texas was at 5 mil.

Exactly. And if we go far at the end of the year, Hobbs should back up the Brinks truck and lock him up forever….

I thought Pike was around 2.5m and Schiano was at 4m.

I think Pike will be a hot commodity..that said I don’t think texas is the option. Look at Shaka Smart going there—not ideal

Coach Pikiell is not leaving, but Texas for sure has deeper pockets than Rutgers. If Danny Hurley took the Texas job, then things could get interesting around here.

Texas thinks every coach would jump at the opportunity to coach the Longhorns. One poster even said John Calipari would be interested in UT over Kentucky. Another said Brad Stevens would leave the Boston Celtics (front office) to coach UT. It would be a step up for him. The insiders at Texas are so full of themselves that they don't realize how toxic others may view their program outside of Texas. Smart left VCU to take the UT job and always seemed to be on the hot seat regardless of success. UT has resources most schools wish were available to them, but it goes beyond money. It's about culture fit, the environment (hostile or friendly), support, and job security. I would be more concerned with UConn if Hurley leaves, but that doesn't appear as something that would happen anytime soon.

I think Hurley is comfortable at UConn as it is the right fit for him. He's a Big East guy who likes that environment. At Texas, he would be a fish out of the water, just like Shaka Smart was at Texas.

Hear ya but on the football board he has a lot of credibility. When he posts people listen - you should too.
Exactly - Donte is very well connected. While I don't think Pike is looking to leave, a huge raise (by Texas or other "rich" schools - and we'd be naive to not think this is coming) would at least make him think about it, which is why RU is going to have to give him a nice bump if this season goes as well as most of us think it's going to.

A local radio station in Texas mentioned people knew Beard was getting fired, and a list of potential replacements was floated around by decision-makers at UT:

Jerome Tang KSt

Brad Underwood Illinois

Musselman Arkansas

Bruce Pearl Auburn

Nate Oats Alabama

Chris Holtmann Ohio St

Ed Cooley Providence

Money makes everything fit. History has repeatedly proven it. Fit is of no meaning compared to money.

And there’s nothing wrong with that.
If money makes everything fit, then that person is shallow, and happiness will hide from that person every chance it gets. You make it sound like someone would sell their family down the river for the right price

This thread doesn't belong here on game day full stop

I dont care who the **** he is especially since he's not a regular basketball board poster
There you go again giving an anonymous message board too much importance. For Most people this is just a place to spend a couple of min a day. It’s not that important but for you it’s your life.

1. You want to call a man shallow if he chooses his money over your wishes, have at it. If you’re ever fortunate enough to earn that decision, you’ll understand.

2. Family- that’s how you choose to interpret it. Ethics is so supreme, that it is an absolute to the point where it is a given in every single statement. I’m not going to preface every statement by repeating it. Chasing money is not remotely unethical in itself. It is rational.

His MO is that he does not move around. He could have left Stony Brook far earlier than he did and gotten far more $. He is not leaving Rutgers for Texas or the Big East. He has said on numerous occasions that the BIG is the best basketball conference in the country…..take him at his word.

No, I'm not calling you shallow. I'm making the point if someone makes a decision based only on money, it makes that person shallow. If money solved problems, then we wouldn't have other issues. And what's the saying, "Mo money, mo problems." Money doesn't buy you happiness.
