I’d respect it if it were humor. Instead, it’s stupidity which doesn’t take any courage at all.
stupidly is looking over and over for things to bash and claim to be a fan.
Fanhood sometimes requires an overzealous positive attitud in order to protect yourself from the doom and gloomers that infest message boards excusing their constant whining by claiming to be realistic about the program, but even find fault in positive developments.

I'll take outragious [positive messages on a fan message board over the this team/coach/AD other fans suck messages that only show a negative outlook.

Al's the opposite of negitivity and that scares the we're doomed crowd and I hate the coach type messages

.

TBH it is no where near as bad as RutgersMo open post to the Harper family, so it doesnt even make worst post of the month here. Kudos to him for having optimism!

At least Al has a schtick. Everyone—at least those who aren’t intent on disliking it—knows that, and it makes the read more enjoyable. It’s like consulting the riot squad on who will win just before the game.

The embarrassing stuff comes from the dead-serious, desperate posters who are copied over to that twitter feed. Well, I mean, not embarrassing to us.

I support both positivity and negativity when it comes to sports talk.
Al truly is a super fan and person who wants us to win.
I’m a super fan who wants us to win, but admittedly negative when we stink and overly positive when we win.
I think most of us are more like you. I fall into this camp, though maybe not so vocal on the boards. But I think this is what makes Al special...he's a positive force in a sea of ups and downs...especially when you think about what we go through as Rutgers fans.

The hilariously ironic thing about these Al threads is that it’s not so much what he posts that gets him attention. It’s his detractors that respond with the hate posts that cause others to defend him that gets him attention.

The very folks who despise his posts the most are the ones fueling the attention they hate him seeking. And who doesn’t love them some comic irony?

That’s why I love Al’s goofy posts. Rock on Al.

Message board genius indeed. 😀

Sure it does. In a world of sheep it takes courage to put yourself out there as someone with complete rose colored glasses.

Fluck conforming, social media and bowing to critics.

Rutgers Al thrives on it.
Exactly. It’s fun playing with sheep. I keep telling everyone but they won’t listen. 😁

The problem many people have is that they do not understand Al, why he does what he does and wonderful humor that is actually put into his posts.
A big part of Al's postings like this is to just make us smile just a little bit and not take all of this so serious.

I always find it interesting that fans of so many other teams get it and love reading his crazy positive posts.

He really doesn't take himself all that serious.

there are guys on these boards who must think their machoness is determined by doing the negativity thing --bac is an example--- looking good or smart is not determined by how much you can criticize RU--sometimes finding good shows more insight and certainly more loyalty--kicking when the team is down sucks
