Put the gas cans in the car and headed to the gas station around 8:30 am expecting the power to go out today. It was out by 9 am. Restore time 11:30 am tomorrow.

Fun evening, got called by the better half, her car doors were frozen as she tried to come home from work. So went to head down there with Tyler, and we had a tree down across the exit for our street. So had to drive out through the entrance, called 911 to let them know, they said they'd send out a road crew. Got the better half into her car, the whole inside was frosted over, so it took forever to heat up and clear the windows, got home and that tree still wasn't cleared. Cop pulled down to it as we were heading in, so I went down to talk to him. Told me that, nope, the town road crew wasn't going to clear the tree because it was a "private" road, i.e., belonging to our association. Unbelievable given that it was at the intersection. So I headed in, called the emergency number for the association, then headed down with my timber saw. Someone passed me as I walked down, turned out to be someone from the HOA. We talked for a bit, he got back in his car to call our landscaper/plower, but after he saw how fast my saw went through the wood, came out and helped me. We cleared the tree to the side and picked up all the branches. So the road's now open. After that went to ShopRite to pick up some prime rib ($4.79/lb) and other fixings for dinner the next couple of nights, came home and now have a roaring fire going in the fireplace. Oh, and enjoying a Glenmorangie LaSanta 12 yo finished in Sherry casks.

He's a week early. There are big tax credits kicking in 1/1/23 if you install a backup system with a certain level of storage capability.
Link? I’m using my F150 Lighting as a backup generator right now. But if there is a big tax credit I might consider it. I priced one out 3 years ago and I needed a new gas line. PSEG wanted to charge 10k for the new line. Complete BS.
Try googling Kohler, Generac or Inflation Reduction Act. It's a 30% credit if you jump through the hoops, storage being the most important.

They just pushed back the estimated fix time for Hillsborough to 6:00 p.m.
Had two water tank heaters break, 1st time that's happened. Buckets of hot water for the livestock this morning. (that royally sucked). Great Pyrenees, Scottish Highland cattle and Mini horses only ones out in this. Pigs and chickens stuck their heads out and said, screw this we're going back to bed.
Right now, two burning wood stoves are saving me a ton of money. Propane prices are insane, the 500 gallon tank or as I like to call it, the Silver Bullet Bomb waiting to explode costs close to $2k to fill.

As long as there is no wind, I can put up with 2 or even colder no problem, in fact I rather enjoy it. But that wind with the cold, cuts through you like a knife.
That sucks. Even more than food livestock needs water when it’s extremely cold. A cow will drink more when it’s -10 than when it’s 90.

Yes, very bad time! I can't imagine how hard it must be to get him to go outside. BTW, I take it he needs to go out every two hours; that's frequent, even for a puppy. As I'm sure you know, the rule of thumb is that a puppy can hold it for the number of hours equal to his age in months plus one. But of course not every puppy is the same. Good luck!!

Yeah- 2 months so had started to do just the twice- 2am and 5am- but he had a couple of shots and got diarrhea so it so happens, at the same time as this weather.
He is ok with the cold but sucks more for me…
I sympathize! But it's good that he is OK with the cold -- there are breeds that have to be virtually dragged out in any kind of bad weather, let alone this.
German shepherd… cold is good. But, not for me at 2am out of the beginning of a deep sleep lol
