Ended up being a much closer game, but the Lobos are undefeated at 11-0 in Pitino jrs second year
Hmm.. maybe being from the Big Ten and having that name allows him to recruit dominant players for that New Mexico level and also knows what was needed for the Big Ten level and demands his players try to meet that level. This is interesting and maybe e something to watch.. thanks for the tip, OP.

That is one of the toughest home courts in college bball. Nicknamed 'The Pit' for a reason
One of the unknown reasons it is so tough is because the Pit is a 5 minute drive from the Abq Airport and it is at 1 mile elevation. So visiting teams do not have time to acclimate to the elevation and get winded pretty easily. Also the Pit is similar to the RAC where the stands are right on the court and go up very steeply, thus it resembles a pit...and how it got it's nickname. A great, great venue for college b-ball.
I tend to agree with you. Ben Johnson started off hot, then Minnesota kind of disappeared but I see he has the 4th ranked center in the country coming in next year (7’1” from California) and another 4 star kid. He has a reputation for recruiting. I expect them to be back up near the top of the league in 2-3 years.

Agreed, but you need 3 days to acclimate to the altitude. No opposing team takes 3 days to acclimate and then play the Lobos...1 day, not 3.
I love the RAC, but The Pit is also very special. It's called The Pit due to the playing floor being 37 feet below street level. It has all modern ammentities (including lots of lavatories) and holds 14,600 and gets as loud as the RAC. Check out the 2 pics below. It's a great home court advantage and a awesome arena to watch games.

The Pit hosted the NCAA Finals in '83 when Jimmy V won the title at NCSt.
