Chris Conti led the team in tackles. Good for him. Love to see our former players succeed after moving on.
I guess some 5-7 teams got to bowls- Rice was 5-7 this season.
Oh I'm didn't mean to disparage him. Not my intent. More about not playing here and playing so well at middle lb for Rice.
As we have seen with other players, it's a matter of a player finding their right spot where they can excel. Don't remember if Conti was a walk-on or scholarship player, but good for him at Rice. I did not take your post at disparagement. Any positive mention is good press for Rutgers!!!
One wonders if the injuries this year at LB would have boosted his PT.
Perhaps, but he seems to have had little playing time at LB. Mostly special teams.

Get used to free agency. Any chance Conti went to Rice for the academics?

He may have played some this year. Playing more at Rice for sure so good for him.
It's actually a solid engineering school, going by the questionable USNWR ranking. But a tech company I worked for years ago recruited from Rice.
Also looks highly ranked in sciences and statistics:
Rice is the top university in Texas for academics, with an emphasis on engineering and sciences generally.
Rice = 8-10% acceptance rate - "the middle 50% range of SAT scores for the class of 2023 were 1470–1560; the middle 50% range of the ACT Composite score was 33–35"

Big Ten First Team Linebackers:
Tommy Eichenberg 239 lbs.
Nick Herbig 239 lbs
Second team Big Ten LB, Seth Benson, 232 lbs.
Didn’t say they were not good enough, I said it’s hard to play at that weight in the big against big offensive linemen
I'm not trying to be argumentative, but the best LBs in conference were all under that weight. No doubt, most DL have to be heavier than 255, perhaps, unless they are EDGE.
