I love the Sea Bright location... It's great having work/business lunches there with people from out of town, they never realize how nice the Jersey shore can be sitting right outside on the water across the street from the Ocean.

Was told that wasn’t part of the sale originally but it looks like they didn’t fare Covid well. Used to love the place for burger and beer. Went there last week not sure I will be rushing back. Burger over cooked (wife) French dip was good, chicken pot pie (father in law) cold and inedible, wings okay but not up to Frankie’s standards, rueben (mother in law) she tolerated but wasn’t happy.
The ONLY place to go for a reuben in the area is Kelly's. Everyplace else is not even close.

Only been a couple of times, but McCloones is good for a nicer setting. And Woody's was fantastic when we lived in Rumson. Been gone for more than 5 years. The only thing we miss about Rumson is Sea Bright - their fire dept and the restaurants.

They used to be awesome and the best I ever had. Now they lost a little. They became so popular they now make them ahead of time and freeze them.
Cabin was a great spot. How many places have chefs international ruined at this point?

I give Rods one more year before they ruin that place.
I went once after they changed hands and that was the last time.

Yea went to the cabin twice after change of ownership. Tried their BBQ was the worst I have ever had. Gave it another try because they wouldn’t change the pizza would they? Yep ruined the one thing that was fail proof in the entire place.

Haven't been there since it reopened.

I went to get my flu shot today. The Committed Pig in Maria's old location in town should be opening in the near future. Once the weather gets nice there'll be roof top seating.

1st floor has a bar with 14 seats and what appears to be a lot of seating for dining

I like the food, been to the one in Bridgewater a bunch and have never had any issues with food poisoning. My issue is since there are different kitchens (pizza, bar food, sushi) there have been times where one person gets their food way after the rest came out.

Glad to see I am not alone with regard to the Cabin.

Didn’t know about the Chef’s International thing but it does explain a lot.
It's been a while, but we always liked the Anchor Tavern, which is owned by Chef's International. They seem to have not done well in taking over local institutions like The Cabin, Frankies, and perhaps Rods. Never been to Rods, and do not have a good reason why.

Hard for a bar and grille to be "elite" IMO. The one in Edison has decent food and service, but not good enough to bring me back often.

The Cabin now sucks ***, Woody's never been and I thought Tom's was just a shot and beer joint just never been because I don't drink. So, the shot and beer joints are not really appealing to me.
For food I always liked the Cabin better than the rest but I haven't eaten there in the better part of a year. I'm at Woodys the most because I can walk there but their food isn't what it used to be. MJs and Tommys has better bar food than any of them by a decent margin imo.

Been waiting for this to reopen forever. Their version of a PEC is called the Kitchen Sink and is the best I have ever had. If it isn't on the new menu I may weep and mourn for some time.

It's on my list. Wondering if @RU_DIO been there?

Ashamed to admit after living in the area almost forever, finally tried Mulligan's recently, which is elite in comparison to the "Tom's" up the road. Very solid tavern with friendly and outstanding service. Every time we would drive by, it was packed, and we kept going. It's a staple for us now.
No, never been there. I've been in Mulligan's before and Woody's up the road as an old boss of mine ran it years ago. You guys need to go to the Spring Lake Tap House. My friend is running it now. Maybe I'll pick up some more bouncing shifts there.

May be a mad rush for that place. We have been patiently waiting.

Speaking to the owner a while back there were delays beyond their control.
Heard from a couple people (in the know lawyer and realtor)there was an issue with the prior ownership. Guy that was running Marias at the end only owned the business not the building and was negotiating with people as if he owned everything. That blew up a couple of deals.

Some of my family have said they already succeeded in that dept.🙁

And as previously mentioned...that sure stinks about The Cabin as our family used to use it as our go to celebratory spot whenever my boys did something good in hockey or lacrosse. Even tagging/hitting them up on social media (which they liked) saying we're coming again.

Our last time there (August, my birthday) we had a surly bartender and food across the board that was not up to snuff.

IIRC, the sale went thru a month before the pandemic hit which of course had a major effect.

Why can't I remember where Marias is located?

Help me out here, folks.

we sat at the bar, around 12:30pm. Funny thing was the bartender took my order then walked away without taking @RUScrew85 order. He spent about 5 minutes trying to wave him down to put in his order. LOL
We'll sit at the bar at the Seasons 52 on the other side of marketfair mall, get cocktails and appetizers, I'll watch football, and then we'll see a movie in the marketfair amc theater. Never tried Tommy's.

The old Brielle Inn/LT's/Charlie Brown's/Brielle Ale House/Some steak house name(?) is now the "new" Rella's after they moved across 71 from their old spot. Which is now La Mondina.

The "new" Rella's is pretty good. And so is La Mondina.

The Wharfside (in between the Patio Par and the Lobster Shanty) in Point Pleasant is undergoing a major renovation and will not be open until March of 2023.

I enjoy Tommy's... packed often, yes.. but food is generally good. the staff is ambitious, and atmosphere is little of everything (family, sports, late night crowd, etc.)
They have expanded quickly, and hope that doesn't water down the service and what got them to this point. But this shows, as TGIF (sorry.. now Friday's God forbid...LOL), Chilis and applebees locations either close down or not as busy, that the market for something different and consistent is there.

Was sad when Rella's closed. Glad they reopened and I have to say I like the new location layout better than their old. New location kitchen hasn't skipped a beat, always reliable.

La Mondina is fantastic. What they did with that space is spectacular. Great dining experience.

Really nice private room upstairs too.

Right size for a small office party or a family function.

I heard a Rutgers Grad bought it. He's a big supporter of Schiano and has pictures of him all over the walls. I doubt you'd like it. 😁
Yea, thanks for letting me know. it would certainly ruin my appetite.

Maybe Schiano himself bought it. He’d certainly put pics of himself all over the walls. But the remodel/rebuild would take decades.

I like their wings

Not traditional wings though. No mushy breading, and not doused in sauce. More of a rub that's grilled.

They give you a side of Buffalo sauce but I don't even use it.

Big portion also
