Anybody else looking forward to watching Sanders crash and burn at Colorado? He just seems to be at an all time level of self-loving cockiness, even for him. I personally think he's way over his head and won't have as easy a time as he had in the SWAC.

I never bet against Prime Time , you need players to win. His personality will attract the players. The question is will they have more wins then us next year. If that is the case then GS will be the one crashing and burning

Coach Prime one of the greatest players ever and has major SWAG - he is going to recruit like there's no tomorrow. Total player's coach. If his X's and O's are on point sky is the limit. I do not see him failing - on the contrary I see him being EXTREMELY successful!

It's bittersweet for me
Being an FSU fan, I loved Prime

He put us on the map
Without him (and Bobby), FSU wouldn't be where they're at today

We gave him a courtesy interview before hiring Norvell
By all indications, he came very prepared, and though not seriously in contention prior to said interview, impressed the powers that be and even surprised many of them with his attention to detail

Apparently, he thought he nailed it and was getting the job, and was super pissed / insulted when Mike got it instead

That motivated him to stick it to FSU (signing day last year) while simultaneously building up his image, and the FBCU brand, while at Jackson State (he also did a lot there to personally fund program out of his own pocket, but politics and greed got in the way, as funds were misappropriated due to corruption)

But the Travis Hunter debacle last year really soured me
He then doubled down and took Kevin Coleman from us as well

I would never bet against Deion
He's a visionary, smart, highly motivated, calculated, driven, talented with an ego the size of an ocean and the swag to back it up

But Colorado will be a tall task
Clearly, he's using it as a springboard to something bigger

Being from FT Myers and having inroads with FL recruits, and it being an easier position, I thought for sure he'd go to USF. Loads of potential, easy schedule, etc.

Grateful he didn't though as recruiting for FSU would have gotten more difficult

Something else that Rutgers need that you will barely see in NJ (show me links otherwise).

The great college football head coach is very much like a CEO, doesn't do a lot of the hands-on work, but needs to be able to recognize and attract talent at the player and coach level and then take a step back and let them do their job and not try to micromanage. He also needs to be a great fundraiser and have strong relationships with the media. I see no reason why Sanders can't be successful at the role at any level of college football.

He’s already hired an OC and DC. Sean Lewis the Kent State HC (Briles offense guy) will be the OC and Charles Kelly an Alabama assistant and former FSU DC will be the DC.
Not impressed with Kelly
Was extremely subpar at FSU, and only kept on staff b/c he was friends with Jimbo
The D really took a hit after Pruitt left Tallahassee (that's a whole other story unto itself)

I’m not really into the schadenfreude side of life. I’m not a huge fan of Deion Sanders but don’t wish him ill will. I think he will have success luring top talent to Colorado from Fla, Texas and Cal. That will give him a chance to win there.

Looks like he had top 20 defenses there after his first year and top 40ish in scoring defense. Those are solid numbers.

IMO Lewis’ offense will be the key to them doing well as opposed to the defense. If the offense is strong, the defense just needs to be mediocre.

In his introduction speech to the team, he said "I'm coming" more times than you would hear in a 4 hour porn movie.

Weird take. Does every post of yours revolve around putting Greg down?

I personally can't stand the guy. Everything is about him. His intro speech to the team was horrific. To walk in there and essentially tell everyone they are a piece of garbage is entirely wrong. He's over his head and I'm going to enjoy the fire.

I will never bet against Deion. I wasn't a fan of him when at FSU but greatly respected the guy and his career. He has that 'it" factor and will be successful. As long as he has a strong support team to handle all the admin/NCAA BS, he will be successful. It also helps there appear to be no rules right now so the timing is perfect for Colorado to get good fast.

The guard rails that made college football "college" are gone.
Sanders has swag but he's smarter than some people think.
A recruit and family seeing Coach Prime at their home will be more exciting than most other well known coaches.
Prime with a portal could make a sucking sound like NAFTA.
What other coach even has a nickname like that lol?

Deion will attract really good players and will definitely improve the Colorado program. The question is how well he will do.

I love Schiano but would I love the energy and enthusiasm Deion would bring to our program.

Did you listen to the entire speech or the media clips? Because I heard him say if you are not going to do x y and z then leave. The media just showed the clips of him saying leave.

I think his message was perfect. Very honest and up front.

I think he's a great coach and spent a lot of his own money for non flashy things for his players. He helped pay for food, locker room, and equipment. He truly cares about his young men.

I don't know if he is a great coach yet. I agree with the rest of what you said. He had advantages over all of the other coaches in the SWAC because he did use his own money and because he was able to get some players who were well above SWAC level competition. I think he had the better players in all of his games this year.

He won't have the advantages he had. He wont have the better players every game and off the field he wont have the better facilities, ect. At least not for some time.

I know you coached and why you chose not to pursue it. Do you think he will be willing to work as hard as college coaches work. In the office at 5am and out at midnight if at all. Head coaches grind, at least the good ones, in season and out. Nick Saban wins a NC game in the the post game interview he is already talking about getting to the office to start preparing for next year. Will Deion work this hard?

Another thought for you. Yes he will attract players with his personality and his "prime" style of interacting with recruits both in HS and the portal. The players he attracts are going to be a lot like him in personality and confidence. The question for you as a coach, can a "team" exist with too many "prime" type personalities on it? There is one ball. Will 3-4 receivers be happy sharing the ball? Will RBs share it? Can these big personalities all coexist in the "team" concept. Do you think Randy Moss, Keyshawn Johnson, Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson type personalities could all play receiver on the same team?

I seriously am interested in your thoughts. I know you have a good perspective on keeping players happy and the hard work coaches put in

He just has to win 6 games to be considered a success there.

People don't think he can win 6 games with his charisma and Colorado's top notch facilities can attract..?

I also was surprised he didn’t go to USF. Better fit for him, imo. But Colorado came up with the $$$. He makes more than Schiano.

An interesting thing about Colorado is that its middlish to rest of the country
Recruiting a CA player to Colorado can be easier than recruiting a CA player to FL and vice versa.
Then he's also only a 3.5 hr flight from Cleveland and 2.5 to Chicago and Houston
Strategically, Colorado can look like the middle of nowhere or like the middle of everywhere.
Sanders tips it all to everywhere

No. I would never wish anybody harm unless they themselves are out to intentionally harm others.

Who's worse? A flashy, cocky person? Or a person who wishes harm to strangers because they don't like their personality as depicted through the media?

When other coaches do this, people will will “SO AND SO GOT THE TALK…” or “HE GOT PROCESSED…” But since it’s Deion, “HES AN IGNORANT AND ARROGANT SCUMBAG. I CANT WAIT UNTIL HE FAILS.”
